Verifying Cache with Mods Installed
So, I ve searched around Nexus and the internet in general and have not found this question.

Im not having any issue at this time and have 27 Mods installed through NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) If I were to start having issues in the future, is it safe to verify the game cache with mods installed?

Most of my mods replaces the default textures with Mod textures, Meshes etc. . Such as WATER / AmidianBorn Series / RLO / CBBE / SMIM

Any Ideas?

Yes, verifying cache will only affect the base game+DLC files - if any of those are missing or corrupt it will replace them and won't even check the mod files.

On the other hand - it will *may* replace modded textures with the originals - depends on whether the texture mod loaded them loose or contains them inside a mod file.

Thats what I figured. Ill just do my research and take the safe route should I ever have an issue. =D

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: verifying the cache checks only game files and game modified ini files, not mod files and replaced textures, so it doesn't matter where you retrieved mods or even if you have mods or not. They are not checked when you verify your game cache.

There are only a couple of files in your data folder that get checked during a cache verification, DLCs and a couple of core game/patch related files. Update.esm/bsa, Skyrim.esm, and the Skyrim resource .bsa files IIRC.

I've had mods installed since nearly the first day I got Skyrim and after dozens of cache verifications I have yet to have mods cause problems with the process. Workshop and Nexus.

I have several texture replacement mods (separate texture files actually added to the data folder, Textures subfolder) and verifying the cache has never replaced the textures because they are separate from any game texture files.

I've cleaned the DLC files and verifying the cache never has a problem with TES5Edit cleaned game files. The cache verification process happily treats them as "original".
