Top 10 Reasons Why the Elder Scrolls Online will probably suck...
These are my reasons why Elder Scrolls Online will probably suck:
1. The text-chat will ruin immersion.
2. There will be those annoying people spamming trade requests on the text-chat.
3. Hackers, hackers everywhere.
4. There will probably be a high chance of the player-base being people who never even played Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim because Elder Scrolls Online is F2P.
5. Story will probably be bland due to multi-player.
6. There's no freaking Nazeem or Nelkar.
7. You're just an ordinary adventurer, unlike in Skyrim, you're the Dovahkiin, while in Oblivion, you become a legend by defeating the Oblivion crisis.
8. You cannot mod it (none of your favorite Skyrim mods like SkyUI, SkyRE, etc.)
9. Judging by the graphics in the E3 demo (which I went to), it's more worse than vanilla Skyrim's graphics (probably due to multiplayer).

and freaking 10....
THERE. IS. NO. FREAKING. DRAGONS. (AND. PROBABLY. SHOUTING.)

i'll add one thing..
not to be offensive, i love ES games but in single player bethesda seems to be unable to deliver a bug free experience, if they want to plunge that MASSIVE amount of player in a massively large world, god forgive how many bugs we'll run into....

I've played other hybrid games that had solo/multi-player setups. Not to my liking, so even if TESO has solo-play crammed into the mult-play engine it won't be the same. Close won't work for me.

I'm not saying other people shouldn't like TESO or play it, I am just stating I won't play it. I personally hope TESO is a very successful game so Zenimax Media Inc. gets lots of money to encourage investment in time and money to develop other solo-play games as well as multi-play.

Eh... Fair enough.

same could be said for games that dont copy what WoW does but i see youre point. i guess it all really matter's to chance. i think that ESO will be sucessful. the game's lore and cannon has been built up long enough and the game's history is well structured. and many people fail to actually go to the bethesda or ESO sight and see what the game is about. the developer's already said that the game is bieng built to suit all gameplay style's. the conflict in Cyrodiil is for the player's who want faction PvP, they have duegons for solo and team raiding, i dont know if they will do a guild v guild element yet (would be cool though cause GvG is basically just a watered down version of faction war's.) the developer's at zenimax said the game will be suited for ALL play style's so if you wanna go solo then you will be rewarded for following that route just as you would be rewarded for team efforts. its universally know that team effort's reward more though when youre hitting the high level duegons together.
Here is what I do know blizzard isn't stupid, they plan well in advance, by the time a "WoW clone" caught up with there game, they would release another mmo and go in a new direction leading the mmo market, thus refreshing the whole clone cycle once again. But they were out smarted, because one gaming company decided to take the mmo market in a new direction instead of following the WoW success, which has resulted in cataclysmic events in blizzard, blizzards response was to re-think there approach, namely scrapping and remaking there new mmo.

These are troubled times for blizzard, with a 1.3 million sub loss followed by a further 600k sub loss for their world of warcraft, blizzard needs to act fast, but new blizzard games in developement are far from fast.

Nothing will ever be as succesful as wow was (in the mmo genre) It was able to capture the market at a PERFECT time. Some how they were able to get 10million console morons to migrate to PC. They also managed to destroy a genre that was once niche. The mmo genre is now 90% casual & hardcore raiding is a thing of the past.

I watched the raiding scene slowly bleed out while playing Rift, was a sad sight.

Also, the whole "take an idea and improve on it" is not cloning, though there are PLENTY of genuine wow clones out there that flopped with in 6 months.
Fact, china servers beta testing for Guild Wars 2.

I read some where something about 3 million sales in china, that is small in that area but still a high number of sales, I am treating as a load of bull because I pretty sure it appeared on some gold site during a google search for something else. But if that happens to be true then that would put Guild Wars 2 to 6 million, note I am treating the information as bull, but it is some food for thought.

Those numbers are out of thin air, most of them... Though it is true gw2 had a massive number of sales, it has suffered from evacuation syndrom.

http://mmodata.blogspot.com/ Do they still update this thing?

WoW has had several massive evacuations in the past few years. It doesn't happen as much as it use to, but i'm sure allot of people remember what it was like to try a new mmo at launch a few years after wow had been out, it's gotten allot better recently though. The community just may survive, and re-evolve back into a more hardcore nature, which would then prompt that type of content to return, instead of the mind numbingly boring pve stuff they are putting out right now.

FF14 reborn is looking pretty good, releases in a few weeks!.

The metrics for gw2 are hard to find, but they have already admitted to tracking registered accounts and not active log-ins. Which means they think i still play gw2.

Which numbers are out of thin air, WoW sub loss isn't, and I already stated the guild wars 2 in china is not to be taken serious because no official information has been given yet.
When no information is given for numbers stated they are out of thin air, thats why i linked the wow death chart.
probably but how you are sure?

I agree ESO will most likely be buggy as ♥♥♥♥ on release, but thats when me and my friends have the most fun in ANY game! Searching, finding and exploiting bugs is the best!

WoW has a death chart.

Activision Blizzard Q1 2013 Financial Results Conference Call.
1.3 million subscriber loss making world of warcraft 8.3 million players world total.

Activision Blizzard Q2 2013 Financial Results Conference Call
600k subscriber loss making world of warcraft 7.7 million players world total.

That is information provided by blizzard every quarter, the information is fact. By looking at the information provided by blizzard your notice quite a lot of subscriber loss over the last couple of years, one might say 1.3 millions subs lost in a space of 3 months which was only 3 months ago is a evacuation on many levels.

We also know its share holders want out, that doesn't make WoW look promising with the mass subscriber loss and share selling. You don't have to be a fortune teller to see where world of warcraft is going, its looking more evident as the time goes on.

I wasn't disagreeing you people, was simply stating with NO BACKUP FOR YOUR NUMBERS THEY ARE OUT OF THIN AIR... I'm not disagreeing that WoW has been falling into the pits of hell for multiple years now...

THAT IS WHY I LINKED THE WOW DEATH CHART. Blizz has been releasing quarterly drops longer then the first two quarters of 2013.

mmoDATA tracks WoW, and a few other massive titles... Not GW2 because they won't release proper information on server population.

Of course it will suck. It's an MMORPG and those suck by default. An Elder Scrolls game with purely cooperative (private!) gameplay would be awesome, but I won't even touch this MMORPG stuff.

I couldn't agree more... They totally should of gone the heavy instancing route, hell even add in "hubs" but restrict the world to private-groups & solo.

They should of done this years ago, not now.

*cough* Guild Wars 2
I've honestly not read much about it.... yet I'm hoping it'd be like Diablo3 rather than WoW. It doesn't seem like that'll be the case...

All im seeing from TC is that he wants another single player game.

Please remind yourself that this is an MMO. It is made to be multiplayer, and if that isnt what you want, tough luck, dont play it, wait till they release elder scrolls 6.
i said this yesterday and they completely ignored me. this is a thread inhabited by hater's of the MMO genre who cannot be reasoned with.
