What do you think is the most useless skill tree?
Mine would be speech, it's rare to see a option for persuade or intimidate

Totally depends on your play style.

Because I like to talk to everyone and exhaust every dialogue option, speech feels good for my style.

Alchemy is just boring for me. I have thousands of items stored in a satchel (lol) but I don't think I'll ever use them. I just horde them in case I change my mind :bandit: Alchemy is really useful though in combination with smithing and enchanting to spam up your gear and weapons to insane levels and therefore break the game.

I've never found any use for Pickpocketing. Then again, I use SkyRe, which overhauls every perk tree and makes them all quite useful.

Lockpicking.

I lockpick all the time, have oodles of lockpicks and usually can pick a master lock with 4-5 picks at the most. No need to level the perks when I can perk other things.

Yes i agree, lockpicking gets very easy once you've played for awhile, However i find speechcraft to be very important, the perks you use get you better prices, allow you to invest in stores giving the trader more coin, and also allow you to sell any item to most traders including stolen items. If you pick the right perks that is...

Alchemy. I have no use for it and there is also a quest, I don't remember which, that once you finish you get one or two "active affects" that gives you a chance to produce two potions instead of one. For my style of play alchemy is only used to raise my level as I make potions. When the alchemy skill goes up my level goes up.

Lockpicking, never found any difficulty even with master locks with low levels.

This is a tough one....... Alchemy is basically what I use to make myself level up so couldn't pick that.

I'd have to say speech simply because it is so rarely needed and has so very little impact on the game honestly. I am always filthy rich so I don't need better deals from merchants :/
lockpicking. it's so freakin' easy. I can get master locks at level 1 first try.

Lockpicking, picks do fine and combine with tower stone easy to open the hardest locks. I keep the tower stone after I reach 100 points + in one hand combat don't like two handed stuff.

Either Lockpicking, because the act itself I carry out a lot but the tree is utterly useless and I would never invest into it or Pickpocketing since it's so slow and such a pain to level the whole perk tree just sits there, unused, never even looked at.

I would rather not be able to have every skill, I dont particularly think a mage needs pickpocketing or lockpicking or really sneak, If I am playing a rogue, that is needed, so picking a "useless skill" I think depends on the toon you want to develope. Everyone talks...SO I dont see Speech as really a special skill.

I wouldn't say speech is useless but I think it was done rather poorly in skyrim. It should've been used more than just getting better prices and should bring more benefits like in the fallout series.( Heck I've heard in some fallout games you can get by the whole game without fighting by being able to be diplomatic and negotiate terms and stuff like that and play passively). There should've been more options where you could persuade or intimidate npcs. I approve of speech being an important and fun skill in games because I just love that moment when you manage to persuade the npc into making the quest easier or giving them special access to a place or even keeping them from attacking you. It'd be too hard trying to be a completely speech oriented character in skyrim because there's very little you can do with it outside of getting better prices. In the other TES games you could make people like you and get them to wrap up around your finger. You could make them give you better prices or divulge information or tell you about little secrets or locations. The speech skill wasn't used a whole lot in those games but atleast you could do more with it and it was worth investing in it more. I know this is starting to sound like a rant about skyrim but I'm just comparing it to other similar games that used a speech type skill(s). I still love skyrim and it's one of my favorite games.

Alchemy is the most "useless" for me and my roleplay. You can get some great buffs from it, but between Skyrim's abundant potion loot and the temporal nature of potions, I prefer to invest my perks into more lasting skills, such as Enchanting or Smithing.

It's hard to think about the skills I never use.

Restoration
Any armour skill
Any weapon skill (excepting archery)
Illusion (although the high end stuff is cool)
Alteration
Blocking

Wait, this will be easier to list the skills I use: Conjuration, Enchanting, Archery, Speech, Smithing, Destruction (mainly just to get access to better spells). I know that Sneak and Illusion have some cool ninja stuff later on but I've never done that.

The rest of the stuff is irrelevant to me. I suspect that they all have something pretty awesome to offer at the high end but I mostly stick with what works.

Maybe I'll do a playthrough where I specifically never use any skill I've used before?

I have the Speech mod shoutcraft, where speech actually improves your shouts. Other than that I wouldn't even poop near those perks.

Alteration annoys me so much. I don't want to cast wards with one hand and do something else with the other. It's much more convenient to have followers tank stuff while I pick it off with a bow. With the drain on mana it makes it even more useless in combination with other magic.
