No sound through HDMI?
So I hooked up my laptop to my monitor via HDMI. but on Skyrim and only Skyrim, there's no sound coming out through anything. It's not the monitor or computer, since everything else plays sound properly. Is this a known bug? I really want to enjoy skyrim on the big(ger) screen. Any help? Thanks!

Does yor audio card support HDMI sound?

Yes, indeed it does. This only happens for skyrim. It was happening in GTA vice city but ALT-Tabbing in and out fixed that, which did not work for skyrim. Everything else produces audio as it should.

Try a differnt cable or adapter for your audio. Maybe your HDMI cable is broken.

I ordered a second one so that I wouldn't have to keep plugging and unplugging it to switch between my laptop and xbox, so I'll see if that works, thanks for the tip. It might be here tomorrow but I'll post when it comes.

Maybe look through your Screens Manual which audiorate it supports.Maybe you need to set your pcs audiorate to that value.

i've had this problem before go to control panel while it's hooked up to your tv and change your default audio to your tv...dont worry about changing it back because if it aint detected it'll just pick your laptop speakers again hope this helps.
edit-go to control panel-hardware and sound-manage audio devices-then you should see your laptop+tv

Is it a second screen a TV?
fco2013 Jul 25, 2013 @ 12:41pm
It's a second screen, AOC monitor w/ built in speakers

Ah-ha I think I fixed it. There's something in skyrim (probably just mine) that doesn't properly switch the audio to hdmi, because I can hear the windows disconnect and reconnect sounds when I launch it. So I set my default sound device to my laptop's built in speakers (which are actually fairly decent) and now it works! Picture through monitor, sound through laptop! Thanks to everyone that pitched in to help, steered to the right direction.
