Blood on the ice quest bug
I started the Blood on the ice quest and it glitched. It there any way to reset it?

well, i started the quest, and now it has two markers. It has the ask permission to investigate marker, and the investigate crime scene marker on at the same time. Is there a way to reset the quest?

That quest glitched for me on two consecutive play throughs.

Downloading the Unofficial Skyrim Patch fixed it right up.

This is why you should always save into a new slot before you start a new quest.

Try writing this in the console: SetObjectiveCompleted MS11 30 1
That should check the stage "speak to Jorleif". You may have to do the same thing with the investigation-stage, Idk

Have you tried investigating? Follow the blood trail from the body to Hjerim.
Apologies if already tried, some miss it.

yes. The marker is there, but there are no items, or people, no body, or blood. Nothing.

some say that going into the commands thing (~) and writing startquest ms11 works, but it doesnt for me... maybe i can do completequest ms11 and then startquest ms11 to restart... but idk if thats good because it might mess somehting up...

"resetquest MS11" is the command to reset the quest.
No promise it will work, however.

ok, somehow i managed to do the quest even with the bug. All it was, was that the body was gone, and the marker for getting assistance from that guy in the palace was still active. But i found the blood trail, made it to the first place (The butchers dwelling), had a HUGE lag spike and everything re-appeared...

I keep running into bugs with this quest. I can only get up to where you get permission to investigate and I go back to the guard and tell him.
I should be able to start checking the crime scene where there is a location indicator. I get nothing that says to move on to the next stage.
I've tried to load an older save and same thing happens.
I'm running no mods in Skyrim Special Edition.

It's been a while, but as i remember it was that the quest IS glitched, the people youre suposed to talk to are gone, but there is a very faint and rather hard to follow blood trail leading from the place where the body was, just follow it and itll lead you to the next quest area.
