Strange overly bright sky and lighting?
On my Redguard paladin warrior I recently traveled to Solsthiem and the sky turned extremely bright and lighting became over bright and saturated after I ventured through some caves. I first noticed the snow being overly bright and almost pure white making it almost impossible to see. Since then I noticed that lighting effects seem too bright and are sometimes distorted. Upon looking at the sky I noticed it was so overly bright I could not make out anything on the far horizon and could barly see anything in the sky, even at midnight. The lighting is completly overhwhelming at night and it's much brighter than it should be even with Night Eye active.

This is not a game brightness issue, turning down the brightness only results in the exact same problem, only the game slightly darker. You can still notice the lighting is still completely oversaturated.

I have already tried uninstalling every single mod I have but that did not fix the issue. I have also noticed this issue before on my friends Skyrim for the Xbox and my original copy on my Xbox. It seems to be something around Solsthiem that causes this issue.

This also only seems to be affecting my Redguard paladin, and not any of my other characters.

Does anybody know what causes this, or how to fix it?

EDIT: Now posted with screenshots of the issue

This first set is of "normal" conditions of night and day on my unaffected charecter. Taken at midnight and noon respectively.

Do you have any screenshots?

Not currently, but I will go and create a few now

You could try a clean driver install. You could safe boot and clean old drivers.

What graphics card do you use?

Are you using any mods? Have you tried playing without them?

You could try deleting skyrimprefs.ini and skyrim.ini, then start the game from Steam and Skyrim will create fresh ones. (Make backups first, obviously.)

Do you still get the same issue if you play in windowed mode?

If all else fails, you could try completely reinstalling Skyrim.

Would rather avoid that if possible.

Nvidia GTX 660.

I use many mods, but all have been disabled until this issue is resolved.

I may thry that if I can not get a solution, would this delete save data or any other data?

Yes.

Would also rather avoid this for sake of save and mod data.

Screenshots will be posted momentarily of the issue.
well here is an idea and this may be a longshot... but maybe you should try and replace the cloud and sky's with an overhual of some sort. have you tried CoT? im pretty sure it enhances the weather of the game.

the real idea is to mod out anything that's partially/fully related to the sky/weather to fix the problem. its not a permenant solution but it can solve the issue long enough for someone to get a fix to you.
bump, really need a solution
Im having the same problem. Iv tryed installing Sky/Lighting overhauls but with no affect.

One thing i have notised, on my alternate save whenever i first come out of a cave or a dark place it starts out very bright and then goes back to normal (similar to the glitch just without the going back to normal) this i probaly to simulate your eyes addjusting.
When i think back this problem happened to me after i came out of a cave.

Im currently trying every way i know toocause this bright to dark trasition. My next plan is to cheat in an Elder scroll and use that to alter the light. If someone could try this please post a reply on the affect because i wont be able to try this for a while.
Also im using Nvidia which has caused problems with other games. Does anyone else have it?
Nope Elder Scroll didnt work...New ideas anyone?
ATTENTION I have found a fix(ish) to this problem. After doing the Dark Brotherhood intro mission (Where you have to kill Grelod the kind) after I slept and was taken to the Abandond Shack the problem just seemed to go away. I know this is early on in the game so many of you wont be able to do this but if you know how you can replicate this please post it for others.
use the default weather commands in console to reset lighting and weather(next two lines)

sw 15e
fw 15e

these commands fixed my issue with the soltheim and gloomreach lighting in Skyrim overworld

THANK YOU I have been able to find a sultion to every problem exept a select few, this being one of those few. I just started skyrim jan 2014 and got over 500 hours in it. Being I started so late, there is always an answer, someone always already asked my question. This one tho I wasnt getting any luck. I just reinstalled skyrim to stop game freezing from to many graphic altering mod. I was just about to install all the graphic mods again one by one cause I know my problem is a lack of a mod. but this fixed it.

So anybody else with this problem keep in mind in my instance a lack of a mod was the problem, so the general diable all mods fix is doing the oppsite effect.
I know it will sound like the wierdest thing ever, but it's true: press Z in the game. it sets if this mode is active or not.

When i type sw 15e it does nothing and fw 15e fixes it for a split second but then it starts being overly bright again.
