Can't buy horse

Hey Everyone,

So I haven't played for a while, and have been playing again with mods. However, none of the stablemasters give me an option to purchase a horse. I tried deactivating all the mods, but there was still no option to buy a horse. (In the stablemaster dialogue they only give me the option to ask them a question, not to purchase a horse). My new character is level 10, and I have plenty of gold. Am I forgetting something like a quest? Should I try uninstalling all the mods (not just having them deactivated). I hate to do that, as I have been enjoying the mods and there is no telling which one is the culprit. Thanks for the help!

Do you have the thieves guild horse mod? It might see you as having one already.

I do not. I have mostly housing/graphics/mods. The only vendor related mod I have is:

sexy house vendors, I also have enhanced towns and villages. Other than that, it is mostly the housing mods.

Ok so I uninstalled all mods, verified game cache, and reinstalled part of skyrim. Still no option to buy a horse. Any ideas?

Why buy a horse when there is a summoned horse you can get?

There is also a free one north of Windhelm you can get at level 1.

This is a very old thread. I'd recommend starting a new one to see if someone can help you. I've done a lot of googling and while I see other people having the same problem, I don't find any solution. You can try to get Frost in Riften--you'll find the guy to start the quest standing at the door of the Bee & Barb (inside). But at low levels this quest is very difficult, because you'll need to fight a lot of mercenaries to get to the horse. Other than that, verifying your cache files or re-loading the game is the only thing I can think of. I would also sort any mods you have with LOOT and check for error messages.

There is also a little mod which adds horses to the game which you can just find and ride and they become yours. I'll see if I can find the link. It's very old, may not even be up any more.

Here you go. It's still up. I used it for a long time and liked it. I un-installed it when I loaded Convenient Horses.
