How to get rid of the quest "Taking care of business"

I don't want to join the thieves guild, I accidently got this quest during the main quest. How do I get rid of it or fail it? I'm no thief.

I'd like suggestions about this too. I'm getting ready to go to Riften for the main quest, and I don't want to join the Thieves. I know that if you walk too close to the guild leader, Brynjolf, he automatically sets a guild quest in motion.

Just ignore it. It will go down near the bottom of the list eventually. Do not click on it or it will show it as activated. To deactivate just click to remove the arrow. It is a good rule to have just one quest showing unless you have any close together.

its a game, not real life, doesnt matter
just do the quest as none of these people are real - get achivements and stuff
