Skyrim Multi-Save Mod?
Me and my dad both wanna play Skyrim, cause i got it for him for fathers day. Being the selfish person i am i created my own character and have really good progress, but he wants a character too! But i don't want him to delete my character i worked so hard on... so my question is, is there a mod that makes having more than 1 save easy? I've NEVER had a mod before.

Why you need a mod for this? Just let him do his own savegames, he just need to watch not to override your savegames.

But wouldn't it be a hassle to do it over and over?

I'm not sure if I understand the problem. You can create as many savegames and different characters as you wish. If he create a new character your old character is'nt affected at all as long he doesn't override your savegamefiles.

It's extremely simple to have multiple saves and no mods are required. Just make sure you guys aren't saving over each other's files and you will be fine.

Or get your own copies of steam Skyrim and never worry again.

I can understand the nervousness about your saves. Why don't you make a backup copy of the last save each time you quit Skyrim? Keep a copy of it in a safe place just in case. Depending on which version of Windows you're running, you'll find the saves folder in Documents\My Games\Skyrim or My Documents\My Games\Skyrim.

I've heard that this mod doesn't work... does it work? I wanna make sure my save file is safe.

And could someone link me to a video or a tutorial on how to have more than 1 save file? I'm having problems...

It works, i've been using it ever since it was released. It's very easy to use.

Okay, do i need something special to use it or do i just install it and i'm done?

You don't need anything for it to run, nor do you need to install it. You extract the download, launch TESVGM.exe and all will be fine from that point onwards :)

One last thing, when i save, will it mess up other saves? Cause i heard auto-saves screw it up... D:

No. It creates a separate profile for each character, therefore there will be separate autosaves for each.

There is nothing risky about using this mod/program, it's very easy to use, nothing to be worried about.

Austin, you can also just use the console to manually name your saves. Press the ~ key in-game, and then type "save InsertCustomNameHere." This will create a save with the name you enter, but you can't have any spaces in the name. From then on you can just overwrite the save and keep the same name.

Austin, do you understand the difference between autosaves, quick saves, and manual saves? Are you having trouble making manual saves in the System menu?

Just in case: To make a new save, when in game, hit the Esc key. In the menu that pops up, under the System heading, click on Save in the list on the left. Then hit New Save at the top of the save list on the right. This gives you a separate new save, complete with snapshot, which you can choose to load when beginning the game.
