Non-killable NPC wont stop being hostile
For some reason, Vignar Gray-Mane is hostile. None of the other NPCs in Whiterun are hostile, but he is. Not only this, but he is unkillable, meaning there is no way to go about getting rid of his hostility normally. Is there a console command i can use to make him normal again? I tried the "ResetAI" command, but thats only temp fix, cuz he immediately draws his sword again and continues attacking me. Anybody know how to fix this?

Leave Whiterun for a few days and then try again.

I had an issue like that, Common fixes for me. #1 leave and come back a few days later, #2 lose your criminal bountys in al of the holds, #3 Fus do rah + beat down then load back to before he was attacking me. Hope this helps

Are you a Stormcloak? He used to be in the Legion.

Try the "I yield" mod, it seems to stop hostile non-killable npcs when they fall to their knees

there is a console thing where you can delete guys, then reset them and then undelete them.

helped me when some guards started to get hostile towards me because an enemy legionary followed me into a city and i killed him.

I have a similar issue with NPCs turning voilent, except in my case it seems to be every NPC!

Basically, I started the 'Fate of the Skaal' quest, finished speaking to Frea and her father (who were knelt in a circle with two other Skaal, powering a protective barrier). Before I continued, I saved, but now when I load the save game, as soon as they see me, they all get up and start attacking me!

I managed to sneak to a building, enter it and come back out hoping it might reset something, but apparently not. I also tried creating a new save inside the building and then going back outside. Then I tried sneaking out of the village, but even outside the village every NPC attacked me.

The calm spell apparently doesn't work on any of them, I've tried beating them all down and loading the save to no avail.

I'm not sure what to do next :(

Typically, as soon as I posted that, I had a brainstorm. I went into the building, waited 24 hours (game hours obviously), and there you have it. I'm such an idiot >.<

Thats generally not advisable and probably will break the missions involved with unique npcs.
You make a new copy but it has different IDs, scripts will get broken that way.
Its (typically) no problem with generic noname npcs, those use different ID system.

But you cant just replace important npcs like this... scripts either cant connect to this version of that npc or get confused by having multiple copies to choose from and so on.

And yeah, Vignar is one of the essential people that, i think, never become killable in normal play, since they are important for the main story... so id imagine having his IDs mixed up will break a lot, the whole playthourgh probably.

Targeted console commands 'stopcombat' followed by 'setav aggression 0'
