Anyone know how to put your gear in a display case? I can open it but can't seem to put anything in it !!!

They are a nuisance. Generally to keep anything from flying around the room whenever you enter, you have to drop the item on the floor first then exit the house. Re-enter, place cursor on item press and hold E key down and drag the item you want placed in the display box over the open case, then release key and hope it lands in the case.

I'm not sure but I think there may be a mod in Workshop that helps specifically with display cases, so take a look. Never use them myself.

Tried them once, all my stuff disappeared, never bothered with it again.

I was kind of thinking I had a bug due to HD textures, because for dagger cases in Markath (I think) you have an option to activate the case to put the dagger inside, and I didn't have that on the bigger ones. But meh, didn't bother.

Waste of time trying to use them. I lost an enchanted ebony sword when I tried to use one. Did not bother after that.

I also tried putting objects in display case but they usally just fly out the glass any way and all over your floor as Jogon said it is quite a waste of time unless you had the mod. I just stick to book shelves and treasure chests. I would set 2-5 different chests in your home (or barrels) where you put things in them. I would also drop certain items next to the barrel or chest to let you know what is inside. And nothing disappears in your house. I had a house and dropped like 40 letters on the ground and 40-60 game hours later after entering and leaving the house they are still there. Hope this helps -.^

Darn. I just built a Hearthfire house with several display cases in it. You're saying I shouldn't use them?

You could just pretend there is stuff in them. No-one is going to know. LOL

The best way to use the display cases is not to use them.Just like mannequins they never work right, and they move around and that creepys me out.

If you are patient enough you can move things into them. I haven't had anything disappear from them. Have had to put the item in twice for it to stay though. I have had books disappear as I'm putting them back on the shelves.

HA! Well it's either remodel Lakeview Manor, markfordelete all those cases, or just pretend they're recycling bins! One for iron arrows ... one for soul gem fragments ... one for cabbages ...

I had an easier time getting items to stay inside of display cases in Oblivion.

I used cases in Oblivion and they worked ok. I had to lock them (with console) though to keep things in place. Otherwise, the stuff just kept falling out.

Usually only have to put them back in once, they stay put after that.

And that's another thing: mannequins! Mine keep moving off their pedestals. I was just thinking last night that I should just remodel and get rid of those glitchy mannequins. And now the cases? <shakes head>

How well do the wall mounts work?

They seem unreliable when you simply drag and drop your items into them. I lost a dragon priest mask from my collection in one of them. Had to use a cheat to get it back from the testing room (If you lose really important stuff iI suggest this)

This mod should work: Better Display Cases (Hearthfire)
I'm just going to test it.
