How to Install SKSE
EDIT:
There is a self-installing version of SKSE available at Silverlock called

skse_1_06_16_installer.exe.

If you are a PC TechnoNoob, I recommend using that instead of the *.7z file.

Download skse_1_xx_xx_installer.exe.
Double-click on it and it should install into the default location.
You can change the installation path if you need to.

~.~

EDIT 2
Check the date of my original post.

The version of SKSE has been updated and the version number is now higher. You have to use the most recent version.

But if you use the self-installer, it should install to the correct place.

Also BOSS has been superseded by a new utility.

I have not played Skrim since about February, 2014, so you'd be better of going to the Nexus forums.

The best thing about the PC version of Skyrim (apart from better graphics) is the fact you can use the console and install mods. But many of the best mods (or certainly the larger and more complex mods) require SKSE, the Skyrim Script Extender, so better use can be made of Papyrus.

But many people say it is complex to install. Well, the old read me files for it WERE a little confusing for complete noobs, so here is An Idiots' Guide.

Manual Installation
(See above for automatic installation - DO NOT USE NMM - SKSE is NOT a Mod!)

Download SKSE from here:
http://skse.silverlock.org/

Put skse_1_06_16.7z on your desktop, right click, "extract here" and it unzips into it's own folder, skse_1_06_16 (you will need WinZip, WinRAR or similar program).

(EDIT latest version is skse_1_06_16 - always use the latest version)

Then copy
skse_loader.exe
skse_1_9_32.dll
skse_steam_loader.dll

into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim

DO NOT put them in the DATA folder where mods go.

Copy the DATA folder in the Unzipped SKSE folder into:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim

and it will add the scripts you'll need.
Everyone needs the *.pex files in Data\Scripts\.
The *.psc files in Data\Scripts\Source\ are needed for creating or compiling Papyrus scripts with the CK.

On your desktop, make a shortcut to skse_loader.exe, launch Steam, double click your short cut and you're off.

Totally recommended.

For me, with a keyboard and mouse, the PC version is unplayable without SkyUI and Categorized Favorites Menu.

SkyUI changes the interface to be so much more PC-friendly - unless you have a controller and can make the default interface work.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863/

If you prefer to use a controller there is also SkyUI-Away which lets you use MCM and the SkyUI features without the changes to the interface layout, which I think is configurable.

Also, BOSS will help with mod load order - not perfect, but it helps a lot.

I am not affiliated to any of these mods or their authors, I just use them and the supposed complexity of installing SKSE came up in another thread.

That where the game files are, if you go to C: drive (2 options) find games, (if in own folder named Skyrim) or find Main Folder should show when open STEAM - (Steam> steamapps> Common> Skyrim>TESV)
Cheers

ok i went to local disk libraries -> documents -> my documents -> my games -> skyrim

im now here and i have 5 options 2 files: saves (file); SKSE (file); rendererInfo; Skyrim; Skyrim Prefs

nothing about tesv, or steam, steam apps, tes.exe, or anything along those lines....
★Kelvy★ 2013년 9월 4일 오후 10시 53분
Leave that look for STEAM folder open it then STEAMAPPS, then COMMON, then SKYRIM and look down page about half way. Forget that other one, everybody does different ways in setup so don't panic it is there in C:drive. When you open common it will show all your games in steam. When you open C: drive up it should there unless you have place your games on another hard drive. PS go to C: direct from start (computer > C: then Steam)

Wrong directory, that is where the saved files and ini files are kept.

I'm old school, so I don't use libraries, but Windows will let you search for a folder.

This is for Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Windows 8 may differ slightly and if you have an older OS, my commiserations)

As it says in the OP, the game usually installs to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim

That is where TESV.exe will be (unless you allow that stupid feature to not show file extensions, in which case you will see TESV) and where SKSE has to go.

The saved games usually go in:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim:

Actual mods with an esp or esp/bsa (SKSE is not a mod) go in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data

While you are doing this, I'd suggest you make a short cut to these directories and keep them on your desktop.

Just right click on the directory (folder) and copy, then right click on the desktop and click "Paste Shortcut".

Those are not files, they are folders. I don't understand how you are making it so difficult for yourself.

You say you have skse_1_9_32.dll and skse_steam_loader.dll.

What have you done with skse_loader.exe? Make sure it's there, double-click on that and SKSE will launch the game.
