Skyrim DLC Pricing
I originally bought Skyrim within a couple of weeks of its release, pretty expensive considering I'm from Australia, but well worth it.

When the DLCs for Skyrim started coming out, I held off buying them until the price had dropped, and eventually they did.

However, now the Legendary version of Skyrim has been release, which costs $50 on Steam for me in Australia (I'm not sure about the price in the US), this is cheaper than buying all the DLC seperately ($57).

This is extremely fustrating for me, and I'm sure a lot of other fans of Skyrim. I'm sure that a bundle of the DLCs at the cost of $20-$30 would still be reasonable, and get more gamers to buy the DLC. Hopefully Valve can address this pricing issue quickly.

Hmm, I don't think Valve can set the prices...I think they are fixed at what they are given....not sure...

The publishers set the price, and most of the publishers tend to overprice their games toward Aussie market. There are ways to get around this though, for example buying from Amazon (with CC), other online retailers (GMG or Gamersgate) or import from UK.

Valve probably won't care about this, since they don't set the price. Some publishers like CD Project or Paradox tend to have universal pricing as well.

Heck, I preordered Skyrim from ♥♥♥♥ Smith for $71 and then changed to GMG for $51 like 3 days before launch because ♥♥♥♥ Smith ran out of copies (for a pre-order, whut?).

I always assumed Valve set the prices due to the fact they have frequent sales, but I guess not

The reason I'm annoyed is because it costs more to buy the DLCs than it does to buy the Legendary Edition of the game, but all I want is the DLCs, yet I can't get them in a bundle

Anyone to send an email to Valve and another to Bethesda to tell them we want cheaper prices for the DLC?
Mortal Motö 2013 年 6 月 10 日 上午 1:25
Of course it costs more. Why would anyone buy legendary edition if it didn't cost more. I'd say just wait some time, they'll lower the price. It's high now so people who haven't bough Skyrim yet are going like "omg I save 20€ gotta buy" and buy it :D

I don't think you understand the point, the fact is the DLCs cost MORE than the Legendary Edition (that is, the game plus all the DLCs). Which is simply ridiculous.

I'm in the same sitiuation. I bought Skyrim few weeks after release and finished it. Now I want to play it again with DLCs.

It's quite stupid that I have to buy whole Legendary Edition and so pay again for Skyrim, or I have to buy DLCs individualy and pay even more.

Why isn't there similar option as in the case of Civilisiation V? If you have basic version and you want Gold Edition, then you buy just upgrade.
The simple way I beat them at their own game, is I just wait. I look for other games I didn't buy last year or more ago, and I start playing that...then a few months or years later, I will notice that also, the game I didn't pay ridiculous price for has also got updates since then too, and bugs fixed etc....It's brilliant....just don't get bogged down in the rat race...buy last season's games for cheaper. I only bought Skyrim recently, not when it came out...and the Dlc was an exception for me as I needed it for certain modding.

How different is it a year later than it is now?.....A lot cheaper...that's what....

There's nothing you can really do about changes to prices or new promotional offers. It's frustrating, but that's part of the catch. You can wait and hope it goes up on sale or something or purchase it now and enjoy the game.

I am at the point where I refuse to buy a DLC heavy game until at least 1 year post launch. I get cheaper games with all of the bugs patched out.

skyrim is old, the dlcs are new, so for a while it will just be this way.

Makes me mad too - But Dragonborn is all I need.

Yes, I understand that DLCs will be more expensive because they're newer, but what I'm trying to say is that Valve could sell all the DLCs in a bundle for $20, and still make a profit, because $40 for the base game and $20 for the DLCs is $60, which is still more than the $50 for Legendary Edition.

If anyone from Valve reads this, feel free to use this pricing.

Nah, go for Dawnguard.

And Mr. Moonlight, Valve does not set the prices nor bundles. It's Bethesda's job.
Dandy 2013 年 6 月 10 日 下午 3:53
you can ignore the house building dlc if you want, you really will not be missing much. Dawnguard is not a bad dlc, it has new content and a new crowd of people to kill stuff for but it feels like a lot of running around doing the same thing like go kill all the vampires in that cave or rescue this guy that is supposed to be your best friend (really you don't know the half of them). hehe, dawnguard also has a good few bugs, i need to beat the crap out of a guy who gives me missions before he will give me missions since he is always hostile to me XD
Im not sure what the latest dlc was like but i hear it is the best of the lot with a new land to explore etc. In short, just buy the last dlc, if you fancy the dawnguard 1 its good for a while but gets boring pretty fast too
