Bleak Falls Sanctum door puzzle not working!

I just started playing Skyrim not long ago, and I have to admit, it's been fun... up until I got to a really wierd glitch in Bleak Falls Sanctum, where I had to enter in a combination and use the golden claw to unlock the door, my only problem is when I hit the E key on the Outer, Middle and Inner rings, it just stays on the same thing and I can't progress! Someone help me! If I don't get past this point I'm just gonna delete my current save files and start the game over again and not focus too much on story.

Sounds like a good Idea....I deleted all my files at level 26.......but I still hadn't done much questline, tons of exploring, but meh...maybe load up an earlier hard save and see if it works first...

Some people might suggest console commands, but my belief is that it makes things worse...have a think ...

I have a similar problem at the Bleak Falls Sanctum golden claw door. I have turned the 3 rings on the puzzle door properly, but when I attempt to press E on the keyhole - and I do have the golden claw in items - nothing happens. Possibly related: in my last few sessions I can't seem to mine ore using the E key (I have a pickaxe). Otherwsie E functions properly for me.

2nd playthru for me on PC Win 7. Don't recall this issue on first round over a year ago.

Try exiting to desktop and reloading the save.

If no luck, try exiting the Barrow, saving, exiting to desktop, reloading and going back in.

mabey you just have to reienstal the game. al the problems that I had with skyrim were fixest by that.

To add to this, none of this had happened with my other character...

Glitches can happen at random it seems..A lot of them are common in-game bugs that for some reason will go away with a little fiddling or revisiting.....or even deleting problem save files and reloading cleaner earlier ones...

My initial advice is as above, but brutally, a resort I have done in the past is re install the game, or just delete all the saves completely...and start again.

You don't really have to do that though, I think...I think an earlier save can sort this...

Don't forget, when looking at the claw in inventory, you can press C to zoom in a little to better see the tiny symbols...and you can click on the object and drag it around..

Yes, deleting everything and restarting is a bit extreme.

Before doing that, if all else fails, you could also use the console ` and type

tcl
and hit RETURN

and just float through like a ghost.

Then use the console and type tcl and hit return again to turn collisions back on.

Um, you just toggle a free camera, and upon pressing enter again, return back to where you were though... :/

What, did it not work? Most of those gates do not load to another cell, so you can float through. unless it is a proper doorway to another cell.

Also, sometimes the tcl code does not work if you have been playing a while. It just happened to me - I was trying to reach a book that fell behind a table, so I did tcl and it didn't kick in, so you save and exit to desktop and then load and try again.
