Skyrim Legendary Edition NOT WORKING
Hi,i buy yesterday Skyrim Legendary Edition on Steam for 39.99 euro. The game is dead meat. The "famous" missing executable pops up. I checked the install folder and i have only TESV.exe, there is no Skyrimlauncher.exe so i think its steam related problem.

I tried integrity check - downloading only drm file, deleting appcache folder, reinstalling the game/steam client but nothing works. The Steam client, windows, drivers, all is up to date. Tried disabling/uninstaling my Avast Internet Security, No mods just fresh install of game witch official DLC and hi-res pack. Still no working...

How i can get a refund? The game is unplayable (lol game even no start), there is no fix. They just sold me a game which won't work.. how more extreme can it get?

sounds like you guys can either
1) contact steam support for a possible fix or refund
2) wait till steam fixes the issue
good luck

I assume, that u try play the game in ur native language (not english). If yes, this problem is long-timer here, and dont affect only LE of Skyrim. It's a shame, that they do nothing about it. I think they must know about this,'cause of so many ppl r having this prob and complaining about it.

No response in ticket from over 24h so im has been forced to call my bank , they will refund me and they deal with steam - no more wasting time. End of story.

Really, now that is interesting. And buying the game that you forehand pirated isn't really supporting the game, it's a good thing but hardly many discounts later can be called supporting. Hope this gets fixed.

In country where im living ther is no problem witch refund
http://www.nca.ie/nca/chargeback

"Sometimes you may want to dispute a card transaction if:

- The transaction was not authorised by you, or put through more than once
- The supplier did not deliver the goods or services you paid for
- The goods were delivered to you but were faulty or not as described

You should contact the supplier first and ask for a refund. If the supplier will not refund your money and you paid using a credit or debit card, your card provider may agree to reverse the transaction. This is called a chargeback.

In order to start a chargeback, you should contact your card provider (the bank or credit card company who issued the card) immediately. Give them details of the transaction you are disputing and request that they follow it up with the supplier’s merchant. This is the bank that processes card transactions for the shop or company that debited your card.

There are numerous reasons why a sale can be charged back to the seller, and these are set out under the rules of the various credit and debit card schemes, such as Visa, MasterCard, Laser or Maestro. Each card scheme has its own set of rules for chargebacks which can vary from scheme to scheme. In order to issue these cards, your provider signs up to these rules and they must investigate any transaction you dispute.
Most schemes offer full chargeback rights to consumers. But with some debit cards schemes like Laser or Maestro you cannot use the chargeback facility if you do not receive the goods. For example, if you bought something online and the trader did not send on the goods, then you cannot chargeback what you paid if you used Laser or Maestro to pay for it. If you are buying online, think about using Visa, Visa Debit or MasterCard as these schemes offer a chargeback facility if the goods are not delivered.

Dispute rules for each card scheme vary. This can be important if a retailer or service provider you have done business with goes out of business.

If there is a transaction on your bank account or credit card statement that you do not recognise, contact your bank or card issuer straight away.

If you request a chargeback and you are not happy with the response from your card provider, you can make a complaint. "

Doesn't matter where you live, Steam doesn't obey your laws. You have 1-time refund, and it takes some time to get answer. After you use that refund, it doesn't matter what your fancy laws tell you, you won't get refunds any longer. (E: And that's because Steam is in USA. They follow laws of the States, and _you have agreed to not be able to have refund when you registered_. Too bad if you didn't read what you've signed up to).

Also, it was released yesterday. By Bethesda. Should be enough said :D I'd just wait a few days and see if they fix it. It's not like anything Bethesda releases works at release day.

@Saylin

Doing a chargeback with the bank WILL get your account banned or the privilege to buying games revoked with no way to remove this restriction.

Just try to vertify cache and see what happens.

Also not true. Steam has to show just cuase, just like the purchaser must show just cause for obtaining a refund.

Yet people who have gone down this route have been banned/restricted to buying anymore games, I have yet to see anyone not banned for this.

EDIT: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5406-WFZC-5519

"Any fraudulent credit card use, credit card chargebacks, or Paypal chargebacks (regardless of when the transaction occurred)."

Ever surfed the SteamPowered forums for years? No? Well then... They don't call me a forum nolife for nothing you know...

EDIT: Why the fishes would you take this to court? He chose to buy the game and if he charges back, Then thats it...

ChargeBack:

Bank forcfully takes money from Valve Corp>Valve finds out>Blocks the account which the ID/Transactions ID was linked to

So If he don't want to risk a ban, Then keep going with steam support! They might be slow but they get there in the end...

FYI to OP, The money refuned will go into your steam wallet and not back into your bank.

EDIT2: If you do chargeback mind you, Prepare to pay the same money again to unlock your steam account.

There's banning and unlocking, But the unlocking can only be done via support.

I have also stated that these poeple should contact Steam first, POLITELY, and try to get the situation resolved, before taking other steps.

I got to admit, That's quite rare around these parts.

I bet I know what some of them games are too... But I wish some people on here would understand that Steam support takes up to a week to respond to tickets...

Least we dealt with this as easy and (Mature?) way :headcrab:.

OP needs a :headcrab: for one thing...

I chose to buy the game and play it...i buy game not steam. People have problem witch this for over one month accordning to user "LemurCatta"post and other threads:

"this problem is long-timer here, and dont affect only Legendary Edition of Skyrim. It's a shame, that they do nothing about it. I think they must know about this,'cause of so many ppl r having this prob and complaining about it."

So u advice its wait another month and MAYBE they fix this or maybe i throw my 40euro? Sorry I like giving, but I'm no charity!
Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) I am entitled to a refund. Steam is classified as a service and I have the right to a refund within 7 days if purchased product is not as described or the supplier did not deliver the goods

Then do what others have said and POLITELY explain the situation to Valve/Steam.

So if the appiclation file was missing, Do some google searches for any fixes.

Pays to do some research before asking for help from support.

Expect a Fix next week or Today, Won't take that long to fix.

I agree. On my 3 complaints for a refund, I respectfully kept in contact with Steam giving details as to why I was just in my claim. It took (if I recall), about 4-5 days for my claim to be approved by Steam, and my credit card refunded. No Wallet, but credit card. My last refund was 3 years ago.

It's all a matter of how your approach Steam.

Agreed, Glad I have never had to ask for a refund though.
