I use runes, rarely, but i still use them. Runes are Glyphs that you place on walls/floors (ceilings too if you want) and only activate when a hostile npc gets too close, or if they're hit by a spell or an arrow (think of them as mines) one for each element, fire, frost, shock, and theres a few places that have them placed by hostile npcs. kinda easy to spot once you know what they look like.
I don't recommend using it in the middle of a fight, as they have a tendancy to blow up as soon as you put on down, and generally killing the squishy-er mage types, including you.

Heh yeah, Frost and Lightning ones are more common than Fire, if im not mistaken, but they still do quite a lot of damage to anyone not paying attention (Read: Me)

I used them with a sneaky mage. Placed a rune. Threw my voice so they would go on them.

threw ur voice how magic a shout ???

There is a shout called Throw voice. Which lures the enemy to the place you aim. Kinda like how an enemy goes to the place a missed arrow lands. And i use that shout on my rune so enemy would go on it and die.

You can get the Throw Voice shout from the Word Wall at Shearpoint, if I remember correctly. There's a dragon and a tough-ass Draugr priest you'll have to defeat, so be warned.

The Dragon Preists mask has some mighty fine enchantments for a sneaky character

run magic is like trap magic spells you place them on ground and pull the enemiues into them
throw voice has a spell version too with the dlcs. lool its under illusion.
rune magic can be usefull but since you with greatly enchanted stuff one hit anything even on ledendary difficulty no need to use them unless you wanna have fun.
best enchants for armour health regen and magic resist and dmg type enhancing for unarmed, one hand 2 hand and archery
for weapon just use health absorb and paralyze if you have all magic trees to 100 you can even endless enchant weapons so they not lose there enchanting charges
will gievs you round 1200 health per hit and paralyzes target for 10 sec with 99% chnace to work unless target is immune combine it with illusion harmoney spell and they get friendly lol so unless you train you skills for leveling purpose rest kinda just funny toys
and yeah illusion tree makes spell cating silent and lest illusion spells work on higher poeple creater and mechanism and deadra and undead so yepp will work on all except dragons for dragon you have dragon rend and bend will from dragonborn dlc.
