Running on Ultra on Razer Edge Pro?
Would these system specs be able to run the game on Ultra?

Intel Core i7 Dual core w/ Hyper Threading Base 1.9GHz / Turbo 3.0GHz
NVIDIA GT 640M LE (2GB DDR3, Optimus Technology)
8GB DDR3 (2x4GB 1600MHz)

The are the specs for the Razer Edge Pro, would it be able to max the game? Yes I know that it is nowhere near top of the line and I don't care, Skyrim is one of the only AAA games that I play on a regular basis.

And just for reference before someone says it, no I do not care how you personally can build a computer that can run it on ultra for cheaper.

That looks like a beautiful system and though I am no PC expert by any means (just a gamer) I would think that you could run skyrim any way you wanted with those specs.

Have you considered going 3D by the way? The prices are quite good these days and enhance Skyrim brilliantly.

PS: I could buld a PC that could run it on ultra for cheaper (I lie) :D

No.

The GT 640m cannot run it on Ultra settings

GT 640m LE
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-640M-LE.72199.0.html
[numbers are lamost identical to the 640m]

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) w/ GT 640m

low: 52.3 54 57 57.6 58 60 63.9 ~ 58 fps
med.: 40 41.6 42 42.3 42.8 45 48.5 ~ 43 fps
high: 29 31 31.2 31.3 32 32 36.7 ~ 32 fps
ultra: 16 16 17.1 17.2 18.4 20.8 ~ 18 fps
I see the Rzer has a 720p screen; which the above Medium/High settings are benched at. SO you can probably run a mix of Med/High.

I can also say, my laptops GTX 460m [which is superior to the GT 640m] cannot run Skyrim on Ultra, so the GT 640m cannot [well maybe it can if you put it on low resolution; but that wouldn't be "Ultra Settings"].

Seriously though, the Razer gaming laptops/tablets are overpriced; to give an example to other readers, they are more expensive than Alienware laptops. Perhaps give Alienware a look. [they have a 14" model]

Ultra with or without ENBs & texture packages?
Phantom Gamer Feb 28, 2013 @ 1:47pm
well alienware isnt any cheaper you probbly could get away with medium to ultra settings because skyrim isnt a very gpu intensive game as it relies heavily on the cpu so you probably could mix the settings and see what kind of performence you get

I have an M14x, i7-2630QM, 8GB RAM, GT 555M 3GB, I can play ultra with all my mods, I end up with an average of 28-32fps, I like to play on high though so I can get 40. Don't waste your time with ENB its an fps killer and the game never looks as good as those magic screenshots the various authors take.

Razer's are overpriced and Alienware nearly is, they are just expensive but are very worth it. I've had mine for more than a year and I've beat on it mercilessly, overclocked the piss out of it ran it for hours at work when It was 90 degrees outside and it still works perfectly. When you arent gaming and you have the power settings set right you can expect around 6 1/2 hours of battery life, I got 7 hours of use on super low power settings when mine was new but you should only expect an hour maybe an hour and a half while playing something like Skyrim. You can get a very good M14x for around $1400 but even the basic version for $1,000 is really good, then again you could build a way better desktop for that, but if you need a laptop you can't go wrong with an Alienware.

in general i really dont prefer laptops for gameing a getting a good one can cost you alot of money and the specs are low compared to building your own desktop i say from my tech experience you should be fine just dont install graphic mods as they kills your performence

Actually I love the ENB series and in my opinion it makes my game that much more beautiful and immersive. I could never go back to playing the game without ENB because it really does bring that much more to the game. I still just wander around admiring the views and taking screenshots... I rarely did that before I installed ENB.

The difference is massive!

Two things I'll never understand:
1) Why people would buy a tablet for gaming
2) Why they'd pay $1299 for such a tablet when you can get a 17" laptop with better specs for the same price

Perhaps I should have clarified a bit more, with the specs of the edge pro would it be able to run skyrim with the following graphical settings?

Texture Quality: High
Radical Blur Quality: High
Shadow Detail: High
Decal Quantity: High

Allowing the water to reflect all objects.

Have a decent draw distance.

and having antialiasing anisotropic filtering turned off as these two settings are just performance hogs with no major benefits.

rosestorm medium sttings will be best for you maybe a mix of high as well you should be judt ducky :)

I have all these on high, draw distance maxed and AA AF on x4 with mods at 1600x900 on my Alienware. But with the resolution on that (1366x768) you should be able to. I can't figure out why you would want to though, the main problem with performace laptops is that they run hot, and when they get too hot the performance is cut down to decrease heat which inturn kills game performance. Now even the most expensive gaming laptops dont have proper cooling for their components so that tablet will probably have a pathetic cooling system which means when you're running a game like skyrim at high settings it will start to overheat and its performance will suffer. Unless you really really want a tablet for gaming just get a laptop like the M14x. an M14x costs less, has a better cpu with better cooling same RAM, better GPU and bigger harddrive. Keep in mind too that that dual core I7 they are advertising wont boost if its running hot which it will.

"and having antialiasing anisotropic filtering turned off as these two settings are just performance hogs with no major benefits."

Actually anisotropic filtering makes a massive difference. It also doesn't have much of an impact on overall performance.

Just stating this to avoid confusion. For some reason some people believe af isn't that relevant and set it to 4 without checking how the game looks with af at 16.

Antialiasing less so, but the game looks much nicer with antialiasing on.
