Keening not working!
I just completed the quest and got the Keening dagger. The first time I used it, the "Item out of charges" warning and tutorial poped up and said it needed to be recharged. However in the manu, charging this weapon isnt an option. I figured it was a glitch and doesnt need to be charged like some other unique wepons, but when i use it, it doesnt absorb anything. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what do i do to fix it?

One question when you tried to recharge it did you have a charged soul gem on you .If not you will not get the charge option.Or at least i didn't when i tried to recharge an item .If you have any mods you should see if any of them may be affecting recharging

Its not exactly a glitch. Behind the scenes, Keening has no charge at all. So its empty by default, but can't be charged either.

Only way it'll take effect is if you manage to obtain a 100% fortify destruction effect. Easily done by a master enchanter and a few pieces of gear.

Bottom line; Keening is broken by default.

Its meant to be like that, Keening was made to tap into the heart of a physical god, with that heart gone Keening and by default Sunder lost ther enchanment over time. Be glad its enchantment doesn't work. Do to the way it was made if you didn't have the gaunlets Keenings energy would kill you instanly.

So the weapon is not supposed to absorm 30 health, magicka, and stamina even though it says so?

No, it only absorbs 10 of each.

also
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Keening_(Skyrim)

"Keening has a unique enchantment called "Keening's Sting" that absorb 10 Points of Health, Magicka, and Stamina on strike. Keening is not capable of being recharged with a soul gem, nor may the blade be improved at a grindstone. The enchantment has infinite uses in theory, but is incapable of being recharged, making it a single use enchantment, after which it is rendered on par with an Elven Dagger in terms with damage and weight."

Sorry, i understand the lure of it all, but that is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I'm really pissed. Oh well, i'll just use the mod :-)

Basically what that means is that if you use Keening before you have 100% Fortify Destruction on an armor set, you've essentially made it so that Keening's enchantment can't be used.

Sucks, I know.

But I only ever use it on Lorkhan Heart. My main was Sundering, cause I was an Orc, and Dagoth Ur fell down the cliff.
