Abandoned Cave/ Sightless Pit..

i have been sent to find something in here but when i go in the door is barred from the other side. How do i get in?

I'm not 100% sure where you are in the cave/pit, but have you looked at UESP.net/wiki? They have a detailed description of the layout and what to expect. Yes, it's a bit of a walkthrough guide but can be helpful. Out of interest is it the door to the Temple Of Xrib that you can't get through?

i dont know, it says sightless pit but it says the door is barred from the other side so that must be the way out?

Correct: the Abandoned Cave is the exit point. The entrance[www.uesp.net] is a hole in the ground next to an empty hut.
