(SPOILERS) Which tribe for Thirsk? (SPOILERS)
The Nords or the Rieklings? I know form one of my other playthroughs that the rieklings will appear to help you in battle if you side with them, but im not sure what the nords do. When I did a playthrough siding with the nords, it was just a cleaned up meadhall, a few crap quests and a merchant or two. Is there anymore to this? Which do you think is the best choice? Also another question... the kid in the Skaal village who wants to leave, what happens if you tell him to leave? does he show up later in the game?

I wasn't even aware you could side with the Nords.....

Id still go with Rieklings though, since I find them quite entertaining.

Reiklings count as pets so you can have a follower too. They can carry and equip items meaning enchanting makes them insane strong for a pet. They can also be ordered to interact with things like a normal follower.

Riekling Warrior is the strongest to pick from with level 23 and nearly 400 hp.

The Nords do nothing that you don't already have access to.
I completed two of the Riekling Chief's quests (Give Bilgemuck Some Meat and Bring Ten Scathcraw to the Chief) before it dawned on me: these smurfs are little more than squatters. So, being the ever helpful Nord, I marched off to Bujold's Retreat to help that sorry lot retake Thirsk Mead Hall.

I agree with Locklave; assisting the Nords isn't all that exciting and seems to prevent the player from recruiting a Riekling as a follower.

I've deciding to backtrack on helping the Thirsk because they just aren't that cool. The Companions they are NOT, and I don't care what their patron spirit thinks about them. Not sure I want to help those Rieklings either. Maybe I should just wipe them both out, eh? Eh? LOL!

I say kill 'em all and let Talos sort 'em out!

Nords are muscle bound xenophobic morons so go with whoever opposes them I say, even if Rieklings are an embarresing bunch of smurfs.

If you side with the Nords, the leader can be a follower for you, thats all. Nothing special about it.

Side with the Reiklings. You can take one as a follower and, as mentioned already, they will randomly show up and help you fight some enemies. Besides, you will be come Chief.

I chose to side with the nords, because humans.

The reiklings are rangers and 3 will appear during battle if you are taking damage, they will then walk follow you. if you fast travel you will need to take damage again for them to spawn.

Firstly they are SKALLS not nords. Their ancestors were Nedes like the Nords ancestors were, but they chose a more peaceful path, and are a seperate race.

Secondly if you can, side with the Skalls, because it appears that the Rieklings are starting a war to gain more land, nothing else. And I always choose the side that has done the least to start a war.

Choosing the Nords only adds a few quests with no real rewards, except for knowing you did the right thing.

Siding with the Rieklings will get you the choice of Riekling followers, good armor and weapons from killing the Nords if you do it early in the game, and you also get the benefit of a group of Rieklings randomly appearing to help you wherever you are.

It's about the roleplaying. Do you help the Nords take back their hall, or aid the Rieklings in their squatting activities? Your character doesn't know about the rewards, so don't let it enter into your thinking.

What would your character do?

The Skaal ARE Nords! The lore is clear on this. The game is clear on this. They are far more Nord than the Forsworn are Breton. The tribe broke off quite a long time ago, but they are still Nords. They were Nords in Bloodmoon, so they are Nords in Dragonborn.

I almost feel sorry for the displaced Nords, but they're unworthy to keep the hall.
So, I sided with the runts.

They broke off before the Nords were Nords, while they were still Nedes. Their culture is completely different, they even have different names for the gods, and are much more like their Nede ancestors.

They might be closer genetically to Nords than any other race of humans, but cosidering they rarely marry non-Skaals they can't be considered as anything other than themselves.

To get the best nord ending you need to lie when the ancestor tells the leader she is not worthy.
