Geirmunds Hall seems to be gliching

I keep doing this Geirmunds hall thing for an ongoing quest. I reach a point where I make my way to Geirmunds corpse. There's supposed to be a key sitting next to him, but it's not there. I keep reloading the game at the start of the dungeon, but every time I do it the key still isn't there by the body. My toon doesn't have adept lockpicking so I can't get through that door without the stupid key. I'm playing PC version. Need help!

Wait...It's an adept lock? Unless it's a Key Required lock, you can always pick it open. At level one, you can easily pick a Master lock. It just takes a little skill. Also, if it is bugged, just open the console with the ` key, select the door, and type unlock. If this does not update the quest (can't rember what quest that is, so I don't remember the stages), let me know.

You can pick any lock, no matter how high is your skill in that (except for those that require key). You might open the door via console, but that is not interesting... :)

I got it, thanks. I picked the lock with luck. I just kept trying it and it ended up working. Like I said, luck. So I type in ' and select the door and type unlock? That's good to know for the future. I'm not big on opening locked doors around here. Thanks all.

It is an adept lock. By everything I've read, there's supposed to be a key lying by the dead mage. But the key wasn't there.
