Need help with settings ASAP

I'm trying to turn off the shadows in my skyrim steam install and it won't work. I've edited the relevant .ini files that I've seen around the internet, but there is 0 change no matter what I edit. Please help

are you editing the ini files located in steamapps\skyrim folder? or the ones in [username]\documents\my games\skyrim folder?

The ones in steamapps\skyrim are templates the game uses for presettings, you are not suppose to mess with those, the ones you can safely mess around with (give you know what you're doing) are in [username]\documents\my games\skyrim.

If you did mess with the templates i recommend deleting them and verifying integrity of game cache to get them back.

For shadows its in the ".ini tweaks part 2" page. and don't forget to back up any .ini's you modify.
