code to set controls to default
Long story short I'm having a gamebreaking problem with mapping; can someone tell me what the code is to reset settings to defaults?

when you're in the game playing, pause it and go to the controls settings, press t to default, but I'm not sure if it just changes one button or all of them

yeah I tried that and for some reason skyrim isn't acknowledging anything from a to z, although my keyboard works fine outside of the game. also, when i try to remap a command with a letter it tells me that the key is "reserved".
so basically if anyone knows the code to manually reset defaults it would be awesome

Just a thought. Go into Setting then Gameplay and check you don't have the 360 controller box ticked.

yeah thanks for the suggestion, i've tried that and it doesn't seem to work. i don't know if this sheds any light on the problem but when i try to type letters in skyrim they become random numbers for some reason

I did find one suggestion on google regarding Skyrim keybinding and I quote " Extract controlmap.txt from Skyrim Interface.bsa along with other txt files so you can get the correct key codes. Study the files" unquote.

Maybe you have more idea then me whether this would prove useful.

I recently had a serious problem where I f*d up the key mapping badly, somehow getting controls locked into always pushing upwards or downwards, ie making using menues impossible.

Anyhow after going into SkyrimPrefs.ini (in your skyrim installation place \Skyrim and -lo and behold- the gamepad option was set to true (1) look for this: bGamepadEnable=0
Worked for me, I could then go into ingame settings/controls and press T to restore defaults.

Good luck bro.

I tried this and mine was set to 1 so I changed it to 0 and reset controls to default by T but only wsad works. Any help?

I think I set mine to controller by accident and now cannot bring up menus and such there is NO file what so ever called controls, nor a folder in interface for one that info doesn't 100% work...
