There are plenty of flowers all along the roadsides, try taking a walk/run down the road. Some flowers are hard to see if you are travelling fast or in dim light. Take a cart ride to another town and check out their flora. Solitude is a good town as it has lots of flowers actually in the city itself.
I do sleep at night from time to time (if I don't change into a werewolf) but how would that cause any problems? The number of days that have passed is around 34 at the moment...
And what about the cell only reseting when you don't visit it for a week or so... is that really true? Does it work that way?
If you really need some ingredients I find it simpler just to do quests/favourrs for the Alchemist, then they let you help yourself to their stock with a few exceptions.
I think sleeping only effects the time frame, so you are not as aware of waiting for the plants to regrow.
Can't say for sure for everything as the route to Whiterun is a single one (the path south of it) and the routes I take to the other holds are from different directions everytime, so different flaura and such if you get what I mean (its not the same spot over and over again that I pass)
But yeah, I have yet to see them respawn around Whiterun... Guess I can just hang around in the other holds and then visit Whiterun after a week or so to see what happens.
