Help: SKSE lag/stutter
I'm having an odd issue with SKSE.

Launching Skyrim normally through steam has no problems whatsoever; I can play fine at 30-50 fps. However when I play through the skse_loader I get what I can only describe as lag; the game plays fine for a few minutes but then everything starts moving really choppily (i.e. smoke, flames, walking, etc) even though the actual FPS still stays the same.

The strange thing is though, alt+tabbing makes the lag/stutter go away temporarily, but it always comes back.

I honestly have no idea what could be causing it. I've used SKSE fine with no problems before (like around the Skyrim 1.6 patch) but I can't recall when exactly it started doing this.

I've removed all mods, all ENB, done a complete reinstall of Skyrim; but even running nothing but SKSE causes the lag. I've even tried contacting the SKSE team but it's been a week with no response.

So if anyone could identify this problem or help me solve it I'd really appreciate it.

Well I ran into but the same issue as a L e x. Skyrim with all my Mods (except SkyUI) runs smoothly on high settings but it lags horribly if I start it with SKSE. Even with all Mods deactivated and lowest possible graphic settings it is still slower than without SKSE.

Setting the Nvidia graphics for skse_loader.exe to high performance processor, moving it to my secondary partition or running as admin didn't help in any way. I own Skyrim with Dawnguard 1.8.151.0.7 (SKSE 1.6.6 rel 34).

Interestingly it works perfectly on my desktop although it has a lower performance index. I don't have the versions for that here so I can't post them now.

My next (maybe last) attempt will be to reinstall the whole Skyrim from scratch on my laptop but I give it a rest for today.

There is a mod to fix skyrim stuttering. I am at work right now though so I can't search for it. But I use it on mine and it works good.
Tyrant 29 ENE 2013 a las 14:35
iirc you only need to run SKSE loader once and then its enabled even though you launch it from dteam so whay launch the loader again and again and again. i have never done that and all my mods that require SKSE work fine anyways

The wole thing has been resolved for me after I reinstalled Skyrim. All settings and versions are the same as how I had set it up before, but now it runs smoothly. I have no idea what might have changed.

Not true. You always need to start your game from skse_loader.

That's weird.. I've reinstalled a couple times before yet the issue is still there. Perhaps I'm not uninstalling properly?

My uninstall process:
Steam Library > Skyrim > Delete Local Content
Delete Documents/My Games/Skyrim folder
Reinstall with Steam

Is that how you did it?

Well not quite.

I do not have a /My Games/Skyrim folder but I deleted the \Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim folder before I reinstalled it, I restarted my Laptop after I installed it but before downloading any mods or skse and I didn't set up the option to launch skse_loader with the Steam shortcuts.

Hopefully that might help you.

Have you tried an integrity check? It helped for me when it occured. You can do this by right clicking on Skyrim in your library, then go to properties and select the local files tab. The button reads VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE..

When I had this issue, it turned out that my switchable graphics card wasn't set to the right gpu. For some reason, on the lower end GPU, skse causes a considerable amount of lag - but on the higher end, there's no issue. SKSE users will claim to hell and back that SKSE cannot cause lag or FPS drop, but hey, reality is reality. For us, try making sure nothing's running, your wifi is disabled, and that you're using the highest gpu settings you can possible set.

Do you have any plugins (dll files) installed in 'Data\SKSE\Plugins'
If so, you may want to rename them file.dll.old or just delete them.
newer version(s) of skse, I believe, have either incorporated the plugin(s) into skse itself or made them out-right obsolete.
EG: TESVAL.dll (TES V Acceleration Layer) -- obsolete
EG: container_categorization_1_3_10.dll (now apart of SKSE's core)
EG: gibbed_interface_extensions.dll (not sure, on the status of this)
* just to name a few

DO NOT DO THIS: on a production game
BACKUP your game folder and all files (docuemts folder, plugins file, etc)
Once you have backed up everything, then verify cache integrity, check if it is working, etc.
If it is working, then reinstall what you want.
if it is not working, restore the backups you made and continue from there trying to solve the problem.

I had verified the cache integrity and it was a hude pain in the but to get-up and going again, because steam did not like any file I had and restore them all to their out-of-box equvalents.
*NOTE: I realize that this is the intention of Bethesda/Value/stream...but come on...don't overwrite my custom settings (just fix corrupt files)

Hello my friend. As a fellow SKSE victim I think I have the solution to your problem. The thing is, just like you did, I uninstalled skyrim and reinstalled the vanilla game (countless times!!!). Without SKSE or any other mod everything was fine. Then I realised to my astonishment that when installed SKSE and only SKSE (NO OTHER MODS!!) it again began to stutter during my game. So why did this happen, why did SKSE cause stutter? It did'nt make any sense. Well one other thing I realised, while using SKSE, was that the stutter began when I hit my caps lock button(to toggle run/walk). "WTF!!" I said to myself. Then I closed the game and then reloded my last save and before stuttering began I went to game settings and remapped that run/walk key to "Y" . And Voila!! "Y" key didn't cause a stutter although I successfully toggled run/walk. And then I hit caps lock button again and there it was. The stutter returned. So the damn culprit was caps lock key. Because that damn button normally brings up a pop up message while in windows with my packard bell notebook in the middle of the screen(in the shape of a lock being opened and closed) which apparently f.cks up SKSE. So I disabled those keyboard messages on my laptop going to task manager and closing an application named launch manager which manages these special key popups in my notebook. And finally my SKSE doesn't stutter anymore EVER!!. Damn I hate computers. (how that CAPS LOCK key can mess up skyrim only while using skse I have no idea!!!!)
If you downloaded SKSE From The site it will Make it lag With me atleast, I downloaded from steam And used normal Launcher Its still SKSE If you download it with steam and use Normal launcher That made my lag dissappear Ik that im very late Answering but who care's If ur having the problem Still :p This solved my problem :)

I'm having the same problems too bud, I ran skyrim in admin and didn't use SKSE just a normal launch from steam and it helped a lot. Now I'm going to download mods and let you know how things turn out
"So I disabled those keyboard messages on my laptop going to task manager and closing an application named launch manager which manages these special key popups in my notebook. And finally my SKSE doesn't stutter anymore EVER!!"

Dude.
Dude.
Acebi84.
Dude.
YOU ARE A LIFESAVER.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FOR THREE YEARS.
THREE.
YEARS.
And there it is.
I just tried it, it worked, now I can just kill LManager.exe whenever I boot up SKSErim. Even pinned the Launch Manager application to the Start menu so I can just restore it when I'm done.

You are the best. Thank you.
