Windstad being built at Lakeview
So I started building my home in Windstad Manor only to realize nothing was showing up. After searching the net for a while I came across bug report saying that sometimes the building will show up at Lakeview Manor instead. So I ran down there and low and behold there it was.

So here's what I need to know:

1. Is there an unoffical patch out there that can fix this?

2. I heard this can be prevented by Building Lakeview Manor first so I'm wondering if I start building Lakeview Manor will this auto correct itself or will it cause an issue?

3. Is there a console command I can use to reset the building of Windstand back to nothing (heck I have enough money I can even rebuy the property if need be) so I can build Lakeview first to prevent this.

The only other solution I've found online seems to be to disable Hearthfire completely save and restart the DLC from scratch. Which I can do if need be but that would be a bit of a pain as I would lose everything the DLC adds as well as everything in the mods I'll have to disable in the process.

If anyone can help I'd apreacate it, thanks

Apparently if you have a mod that creates new spawn points they could potentially cause the building not to build properly if the spawn point happens to be near the Heartfire building locations.

For me the mod was "Wearwolves of Skyrim". I dissabled it and tried building the expantion to my house and it showed up. Only problem was, the orginal house stayed in Lakeview so only the expantion was being built at windstad.

Unfortiantly the only way I could find to fix this was to dissable the mod, load, save, and re-enable the mod, thus loosing everything connected to the mod but allowing me to build properly. Maybe someone will eventully come up with a mod that will let you rip down your house and start over just incase something like this happens.

I built Lakeview manor, stowed lots of stuff in it, fully equiped. Then I started building Windstad. Nothing showed up as I built it, but instead, all the doors on Lakeview turned into walls. I know Birds and Flocks mod screws everything up, but I don't want to kill off Lakeview and start again. Will I lose everything I have stored there? Does anyone know of any other fix to this problem other than disabling and re-enabling Hearthfire? (Just another reason I HATE unofficial mods, they always screw things up!) BTW, this is the second playthrough after over 250 hours the first time. I thought I'd give it a shot with some minor, highly recommended, mods. First playthrough worked fine. That'll teach me to listen to my brother and mod the game.

You could try to continue building Windstad to see if anything there causes the doors to reapear on Lakeview. Otherwise, unless you can find a concole command that can telaport you inside your Lakeview home I'm affraid the only thing you can do is dissable the mod which I'm pretty sure will delete everyting you have stored in it I'm affraid.

I guess I don't have many options so I'll give it a try and see what happens. I have a feeling that it will be pointless. Even if I duplicate Lakeview at Windstad, I have a feeling it will just screw both of them up and I'll have nothing in the end. Birds and Flocks mod creator should have to do all this for me and pay for his mistake.

No no no, sorry but you using mods and or 3rd party programs and or tools are what screwed this up. Stop trying to say there is a bug in the game because there isn't. What you read was written by people who also used mods and 3rd party tools/programs and then wrote up this entire section about blaming the game for being bugged.

If that was a bug EVERYONE would have it, because we all have the same game, same patches, same version, what affects one, affects all. Something like this doesn't pick and choose some players and not others.

Lou Dobbs (love the name), you are absolutely correct. It was the MOD that screwed things up. The creator of this mod really needs to apologize for his bad programming and lack of testing. And he needs to find a fix. If not, he needs to take his mod out of availability. Steam should have seen to this based upon all the threads here (and nexus) and removed his access.

Or the alternate solution which is better (IMHO) is to have this person learn how to correctly make a mod, and so the person doesn't get punished, people can still use it, and everyone wins.

BTW, Nice profile pic.

On the Birds and Flocks mod page it literally says "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH HEARTHFIRE"

Then, there is a link to Birds and Flocks Hearthfire Edition. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25280

A. If you look at the time stamp of the fist post you'd notice I started this thread almost a year ago and it just happened to get bumped.

2. I was still relativly new to modding when I posted this and had just got Hearthfire so I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the game or what since I never encountered anything like it before.

D. I did state in a later post that I realized it was caused by an incompatable mod.

I hope this hasn't put you off modding too much. I'd recommend getting BOSS if you haven't already. It's a download that will look through your mods and tell you if their incompatable or out dated or other issues (it's user updated so it doesn't have every mod/mod issue but it helps with quite a few). Just do a google search for it and download the file. I've been using it ever since I had this issue and now have over 100 mods running on my game and have yet to run into any serious issues since.

Oh dear, you mentioned BOSS. Wonderful as it is, someone has a relatively large distaste for it, so by their standards, you are participating in even more illegal actions.

Huh? What are you talking about? Is this "someone" a person/group/company? Just wondering if it's a big deal "distaste" or just a personal "distaste" since I don't really keep up with those kinda things/
