Skyrim lag: Is there a fix? [FIXED]
I have had HUGE Skyrim lag and I get it to stop! I am on a very well fit computer, I have no mods on, and I tried the Skyrimprefs file and changed some of the codes to fix it, but it just won't get better! (the codes helped the framrate a little).

System specification. In other words, a list of the parts inside your computer.

I have to agree - even with high end computers, this will happen. You might try it OFF LINE - Steam - and see if it is still there? I've read where some did not have this problem then .. but other's did .. so it is a 'gamble' ... but hey then if it did not do it OFF LINE - then it is a Steam On-Line issue....?

If you haven't tried turn off Anti-Aliasing and Anisotrophic Filters. If that doesn't work try lowering the quality of the Shadows or lower your resolution for the game, these are not a definate fix but could be it. Also look at your Video card and Sound Card Drivers as I have seen both cause lag like issues.

Launch Skyrim and click Options instead of Play.

you can use Skyrim configurator to adjust all kinds of settings its over at nexus , but you need to look at other issues you might be having with your computer as in what programs are running when you play skyrim , your system is far superior to mine and yet i run real smooth , you might want to invetigate your gpu drivers , i think ati cards have issues with the game , not sure though, i use nvidia

I had this problem and spent weeks following every google link out there in search of a fix. The only solution I found that worked flawlessly was to run it in Windowed mode using AutoHotKey to remove the border, thereby making it appear exactly as it does in full screen mode. 60FPS solid now on ultra, no stutter at all. I strongly recommend trying this.

AutoHotKey here: http://www.autohotkey.com/

Get the script from Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24
