Console: Teleporting yourself to an NPC or vice versa
I dismissed Serana at some point to hire a steward for my house, and although she said she would by at catle Volkihar, I could not find her there at all. So I searched for a way to teleport myself to her location using the console, which turned out to be rather convoluted.

Here's the solution should anyone want to do something similar:

1) First off, you need the NPC's Reference ID (refId). This is not the base ID that you can see in the Construction Kit nor the one you get using the help actorName command, but the ID of the reference of the actor in your game.

2) In case of a follower gone rogue, you are best off loading a previous save when you still had the follower, opening the console and clicking on the npc - this will display its refId. For some NPCs you can find the refId online - note however that this will not always work, since the refIds also depend on load orders. Serana's refId is usually 03002B74.

3) Once you have the refId, type this in your console:

player.moveto XXXXXX
To move yourself to the NPCs location

or

moveto player XXXXX
To have the NPC teleported to your location instead.

WARNING: Do NOT use the "player.placeatme refId" command! This will create a copy of the NPC, which will almost always not be what you need.

It's already fixed by the way.
And it was Faendal
thank you very much for instruction .Very helpful for me :)

sorry for my bad english
I am having the same problem as LittleGiant! I am using a follower from a mod (called Inigo). Could that be the problem? If not, what is? Thanks!
Fixed! Do this:
prid XXXXXXX
then do this
moveto player
it will tie the two commands together and whoever you identify in prid will be the NPC who teleports to you. Thanks again!
thanks for the tip :)
If you need to find the first two digits which denote the load order of your DLC so as to use an ID found online, the simplest way is to open the console and type "help [item]" where [item]eis something which only appears in that DLC, such as crossbow for Dawnguard, nails for Hearthfire, and Bonemold Armor for Dragonborn. Just make a note of the first two digits and you're set. (This is assuming you don't have any mods which add new crossbows, if so you'd need to look up something else).
Thank Meridia This post was here, i told Serana to "Wait Here" because i needed to kill a dragon and i forgot to tell her to "come with me" and i lost her lol. Ty for the post :happyz:

Happy it could help :)
Im having trubbles myself it seems several of the NPC's of Solitude such as Beirand ((Whom i thought was the only one to disapper at first)) Jaree-Ra ((Then came the notice of this fellow missing as well, the others didn't acure to me)), Silana Petreia and even Noster Eagle-Eye i found them all outside when i manged to teleport myself to the blacksmith, they were outside the the city but underneath the city, as your heading to the main gate to the left, and a good distantce awayfrom side gate, however i tried using the Console commands to get them back to no avile, i dunno if it's something im doing worng?
Just somthing i'd like to note i was doing "A Night to Remember" and it had been months ingame sins i has seen serana and i was heading to Morvunskar by way of Windhelm, to meet up with Sam and i saw Serana runing at more then 4x times speed of normal people so i talked to her and she was just saying normal things so i told her to Come with me and she did... by Stealing my hourse Frost and then raiding it at more then 4x times off into the sunset. i then used the command to tp to her and she was killing everyone in Fort Amol.
So i have to thank you again for the post Aeon.:happyz:

Sounds like a bug to me, if they are all stuck there together. And using the moveto player command above you can't get them back into the city? If you were able to teleport to the smith, you definitely have the right refid for him, so the command *should* work. If it doesn't, I don't really know what else you could try.
i found that the only way i could get them to teleport to me was (reference id).moveto player. not the way it says above. i downloaded a mod with a building lydia just couldnt get out of so i had to use it to get her out
