Skyrim crash during Vaermina quest

During that quest, at a certain point, specifically after the "dreamscape" part when I have to grab the soul gem. This is when the game crashes & it starts synching with cloud. I turned off cloud to see if that was the issue, but it still occurs (the game crash). When I validate the messege I get is: 1 file failed to validate & will be reaquired. After validating & coming back into the game same thing still occurs.


As for my PCs specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate Sp1 (64bit)
FX8120 3.10 processor
Radeon 7770 x2
16GB RAM
500GB HDD (Seagate)
SoundBlaster recon 3D sound card

As of patch 1.8, saving during or after the Dreamstride portion of the quest will cause the game to freeze on consoles or crash to desktop on PC. The only way to avoid this is to avoid saving during this quest, and disable autosaves as well. There is no known fix at this time. On the PC, this can be avoided by disabling collision (tcl toggles collision), crossing through the barrier, and removeing the soul gem, as the bug oringates during the Dreamstride. Because the quest progress is scripted through the status of the soul gem, this will progress the quest just as if you had used the Dreamstride

Yep! I just made a video about the Vaermina quest and I couldn't save wo crashing. It's a thing, you just have to wait to get out of Nightcaller Temple before saving. Check out my walkthrough of Vaermina.

It worked, thank you both so much. I disabled the autosaves & set just went through the place, only saving once I got outside again.

funny thing is that i have a dishonored mod that gives me the dishonored ability called blink and all i did was just spam it to teleport me through the barrier and collect the gem.
