Cannot charge Staff of the Familiar?

I understand that to charge the Staff of the Familiar, I just need to open my inventory, select it and press "T" to charge it. The in-game interface says the same. But pressing 'T' does nothing.

I have a petty soul gem with a petty soul in it.

I also have 'T' bound as my 'Shout' key, so I don't know if that's a factor?

Can someone please help? I'd love to recharge this thing.

[EDIT] Okay, I've hunted down the answer to this myself. You need to press whatever key you have bound to "Wait" (in my case 'Z') in order to charge the item. I assume this was originally bound to 'T' and Skyrim is still displaying the old info.

P.S. I've noticed a similar issue where you're reading a book or something and it says "Press 'E' to take the item". What it actually want is your Activate/Use key. (On mine it's "W").

P.P.S. Thank you, Rosaria. :) The keys had been rebound. It's still a pretty bad bug that Skyrim tells you the wrong key to press. :/

I'm using the default keys. T to charge Z to shout and E to take items. Your game sounds like the keys have been reset.

irrevenannt ... thank you for updating your found solution. I was getting so frustrated with recharging that I almost dropped the pc and considered going back to xbox ... again thanks 'W' definitely works
