Can't use dragon shout

Hello everyone, have a problem.... Just killed first dragon and received its soul and "Dragon Shout" power... But can't seem to be able to use it when using the Z key (as per indicated)...What is going on? Help would be appriciated... Thank you

Did you activate it? You have to allocate the soul to the power - not sure if you have to on first one so sorry if I'm talking c**p

It won't activate... How do I do that?

You have to 'learn' a shout before you can use the dragon's soul to unlock it's power.
In your magicka menu scroll down to Shouts. Any Shouts you have 'learned' will be listed in grey while 'unlocked' Shouts will show up in the usual white lettering.

The Greybeards have to teach you the first Dragon Shout. If you have killed the first dragon at the tower you have to go back to the Jarl who will tell you where to find them.

If you're playing on PC you hit the 'R' key and the opportunity to unlock the shout that you've been pointing at with your cursor will pop up. You then click Enter or Yes, and ther Shout is unlocked and ready to use.

You may also want to 'favorite' it by clicking the 'F' key', again while pointing to the shout with your cursor. Then you can access your favortied Shout by hitting 'Q without having to go all the way into the Shouts menu.

Ps. You find your Shouts at the Magic menu when you hit Tab.

Hi. I know that this topic is old, I write for those who play skyrim nowdays and has this problem. So I had this problem and I figured out that my keyboard's Z key is Y in the game. So I tryed with X and it works.

Old is an understatement. The OP has totalled 1.7k hrs in Skyrim since you rezzed this thread. It's actually not a real problem/issue anyway since Skyrim talks you through how to activate the shout and if all else fails you simply check the appropriate key binds as you would do in any other game.
