Do decisions actually matter?
Im still debating if starting over is a good idea or not. So im curious how much to decisons in the game (joining the stormcloaks or killing astrid instead of joining the dark brotherhood) actually impact how people react to you or change the tone of the game?

It's an emergent gameplay game so it's up to you to make it what you want!

as the post above me states the choices you make are your own , do what you feel is the right thing for you your path is your own , like gta be as good or bad as you want

No. Nearly nothing but major quests (including DLC ones) matter in this game.

Oh, and if you're bored, you might want to try a different game, at least, that works for me...

Choices don't necessarily matter in Skyrim. It's mostly a game meant for exploration and immersion; and that's what makes Skyirm so amazing. If you want a game that reflects on majority of your choices, play Mass Effect or any game by BioWare.

I decided to start over. Last time around i was the worst player i could be. stole everything, murdered people, everything bad. i decided that this time im goint to be a good guy.

well if want to be a good guy then kill off the dark brotherhood. Sure you have murder a old lady that everyone hates. The guards are happy you killed her. If you dont you cant get any of kids from that place. Thieves guild not so bad they just take stuff and help various citys wtih some quests.

First time going through. Only half way through Dawnguard but have completed Dragonborn. Became a vampire earlier on and got rid of that by joining the companions and becoming a werewolf but did not use that attribute. Got rid of the Brotherhood, which the guards seem to think was OK. Have decided not to become a vampire in Dawnguard. Yes making certain decisions do make a difference on how the game plays as some quests become unaccessable or changed and others open up. Next time through you can play a different character and take up those paths you decided not to take in the previous play through.
