Need some insight

Ive played about 70 hours of skyrim (I know its very little compared to alot of people) and the highest level i was able to reach without starting a new char was 15, and that was a conjur bow stealth char... i would conjur flame atro's and then bow and have at it (if i wasnt sneaking)

It was fun and i enjoyed it, but at level 15 it seemed to be rather easy, practiclly sneaking and one-two shotting everything. I didnt have illusion skills so if i wanted to sneak in some situations if i would conjur bow it would give up my position.

Ive tried mage, warrior, spellsword and they all were fun for a bit, but fact is i find bow stuff more fun, so i am thinking of doing a Khajjit Thief / Assassin and might actually try to roleplay in my head (That is why this game is still so big, isnt it?) instead of mindlessly running around killing stuff.

I am gonna crank up the difficulty, and this time i think im going to skip the Conjur and do Bow and 1handed weapons for when they get in close with light armor.

TLDR:

Main questions is Companions... worth it for a sneaky char or more of a pain in the ass?

other question is anyone have any recommended mods for a sneaky theif / assassin type char?

I would recommend you to play on Master...or Legandary if you are very good in this.

It is no fun when you don't have to expect to die...when you know you are uber....you must have the thrill when you manage to kill...but know it was your cleverness that did it...

Since you only have been level 15...I would go with no extra mod on thief/sneaky..other then one who make play more dangerous.

I'm playing a sneaky khajiit theif at the moment, the best thing is to turn up the difficulty in settings. I've had followers before they don't seem to give away your position. this time I'm doing it without followers. It makes it a little harder as you don't have the follower to distract the enemy and keep them away from you.
