Help! Trying to purchase land in Falkreath.

I have been trying to do the three citizen favors in Falkreath in order to purchase some land to build on. The hold is very small with only a small handful of citizen favors to begin with. I have completed 2/3, getting letter from Lod and chopping wood.

I have harvested crops at the Corpselight Farm but Mathis is no where to be found. Even after planting my butt at the farm house door for close to 48hrs. His wife just stands in back staring off into space like a dufus. (personally I am beginning to wonder if he left her butt or she has murdered him inside the house since it is continuely locked)

Upon my first day arriving in Falkreath there was a dragon attack. Not sure the dragon killed them but there are some bodies laying about beside the road thru the hold. They have now been there for days and everyone just stops and looks at body saying 'What a shame'. Runil's body is laying on the road in front of the Hall of The Dead. From what I have researched he is...or was the recipient of a 'Special Delivery' favor and a favor giver of a 'Retrieval' quest.

Am I hosed? Any suggests on how to get this last citizen favor done so I can purchase my first plot of building land?

Never done it. Resurrect Runil? How? There is a spell to zombie things I think. Not used it but if Runil is a zombie will he do the favor giving/receiving? Thought the zombie thing was only very temparary.

Sorry, only been playing a couple of months. Still learning alot. Trying to learn what I can so I can to be ready for ESO. =)

You can always teleport to Mathis with console commands. If you wanna resurrect someone, type resurrect in console. But be sure to save before you do it incase something messes up!

You do not have to help 3 citizens to buy plot of land, do the Jarl's request to kill the bandits not paying him anymore then you can buy land, I just did this and have bought the land without helping 3 citizens but you do not get a housecarl for your new home til you help 3 citzens.

I have completed the Jarl's request to kill the bandits AND gave him the booze he asked for. He is one who told me to now go help 3 citizens. I have even went to see him every log in just to see if he will say something different. I get no new questions to ask him and he just tells me its good to have me around, he might have use for me one day. Maybe he secretly dislikes Redguards. =(

I have not done any of the quest lines except the Main, I only have to do Alduin's Bane to complete Part II. Could that be problem? I have done several of the Miscellaneous and Side quests, and most the Daedric quests. I am Thane of Whiterun owning Breezehome. As well as own Proudspire Manor in Solitude and Vlindrel Hall in Markarth.

To become thane you do the favors for three people. doing the quest to kill bandits opens the dialog to purchase land. If you sided with the Stormcloaks and Sidgier is no longer Jarl you may not be able to purchase the land.

Ok...think I am screwed. Mathies is one of the dead bodies laying by road since my first visit to Falkreath weeks ago, his body is just outside the West gate. Upon entering Falkreath on my first viist a dragon attacked. I have assumed both him and Runil were killed by dragon.

Narri happened later during yet another dragon attack. Her body as been laying at the corner of the Corpselight Farm home. Everyone for the most part just walks around the dead bodies although they will on ocassion stop or kneel by them. Everytime I enter the hold it seems there is a dragon attack.

Maybe I should hang it up of ever owning the land of Lakeview Manor. At this rate the little hold will be dead in a few months. =(

I have not sided with anyone Aturqoise. Not started the civil war quest line. The putz Sidgier is Jarl.

Then you should be able to kill the bandits and purchase the land. You may be screwed on becoming thane though. anyone you can get as a follower can become your steward though.

Dont care about becoming Thane. Just want to purchase land to check out the building process. It was after I killed the bandits that Sidgier then told me to do three favors for the hold citizens and the objective was placed in my journal.

I've been checking the 'rumors' in the tavern regularly in hopes they might count as favor. Yesterday I was told to go back to the same place that Sidgier sent me and take care of the bandits at Bilegulch Mines...again. But it is still showing 'cleared' on my map. One other thing, when sent to Ancient's Ascent to kill a dragon it never cleared as completed in my journal. I waited until it cycled and this last time I killed the dragon it completed in my journal.

It's like I am caught in some loop. Is it normal to constantly have dragons attack when entering? I mean jeesh...only level 44 and already killed like 68 dragons IG. And I started the main quest late due to be warned once I killed the first one attacks would begin.

Dragons show up after you turn in the dragonstone. I waited in one game until I was level 33 to turn it in. Made all the difference. Some people seem to have all the luck with dragons turning up constantly in certain towns. For one playthough it was Dawnstar for me.

Thank you Aturquoise. Think I will turn my attention to another Hold and see about purchasing land. This is my first life and wanted to check it out. lol..and the others looked like cooooold places. -shivers at even the thought-

When I fast travel to Markarth a dead dragon rezz's in the middle of town. Usually just inside doors at the little market area, but has also rezzed in door way to hold. What strange little buggies.

But still having a blast! =)

Strange Sonya if you have Hearthfire. I had not completed the helping three citizens even though I had completed the Jarls requested quests. When I loaded Hearthfire one of the first courier letters I got was from the Jarl offering some land for me to purchase. When I went and saw his Steward I bought the land and built on it at Lakeview.

Ditto to Jogon I have only helps 2 out 3 there done everything else I then downloaded hearthfire addon and a courier came to me telling me I could buy land there.

Ditto Jogon and Kelvy. I just downloaded it as well. woot! Got me a loooove shack now. Is empty but I got a floor, four walls, a roof and even the door up. Think I need a stable for my horses before I start furnishing it tho.

What do folks say the best piece of land is? Any preferences on which site/hold?
