I've become a vampire - can I be unvampired?

My character has just become a vampire. I don't know the implications of this, apart from "blood boiling" in the sun and being weaker at dawn. Any advice? Can I "cure" vampirism and return to being a plain, normal hero?

there was an earlier post about this in this forum search for it. there are two ways. start over, or go see some guy in one of the places i think its solitde. dont eat fire salts and or vampire dust its how i became one, and using a shrine doesnt work either good luck

I think there is a vampire->normal->werewolf mod that could do the trick. Search the workshop or skyrim nexus. (or youtube vids)

Did you become a vampire by getting bit or did you become a vampire lord from the Dawnguard questline? If you just got bit then take a filled black soul gem to Morthal. Talk to the bartender and she will have a quest dialog that points you to the guy who cures you. If the vampirism has progressed too far people will attack you on site so if that happens you'll have to find someone that is sleeping and bite them before talking to people. If you are a vampire lord from the quest line I don't think you can reverse it.

Thanks all. New here and couldn't see a Search option. I don't know how I became a vampire - nothing obvious, perhaps bitten. If I'm going to be attacked on sight, I need a cure - I'll try Solitude. Relucatant to restart, as this charcater is going well.

I read in the hint book that Aela can change you back into a werewolf one time if you have got that far. Goint to a shrine if you have contacted the disease if you are early in the game will cure as well as some mod's that cure disease. That's if you want to do it with the game.

But in most cases I agree with Mr. Pie Man the console commands are much easier. And no matter what anyone tells you Bethasea left them on there for a purpose.

Also a potion of cure disease can cure you. You can become a vampire even in Skyrim I read but not a strong one like in Dawnguard.

thats right there is a mod in the nexus that wil allow you to chnge rae however i was still left as a vampire

You can be cured from being a vampire lord, you go to Morthal and talk to the guy there. Make sure you a filled black soul gem and be well fed otherwise he won't trust you enough to talk to you.

that was the place i went there with a mild case and it did not work probably a glitch from a mod i was running but i fixed it and am downloading the whole thing again and am not gonna run some of those mods lol

Go and see Aela with the Companions if you want to be a werewolf which will cure your vampirism. Make sure you have fed or everyone will attack you. You have to get the Companions confidence to become a member but when you are a werewolf you do not have to change into one unless you want to. A later quest will enable you to cure yourself of being a werewolf along with a couple of the Companions.[spoiler/]

You need a black soul gem filled if a soul(soul trap) and see the mage in Morthal its that simple or go to the northwest fort on the coast far top left corner of map killed the thalmor in there. There is a prisoner sleeping, can go back again and again end of each day and get a feed. if she wakes up don't talk just leave when you come back she is asleep. after each feed press tab should see your vampire perks increase(11 stages) long time but at the end it won't matter if your are a vampire it comes another ability to use, this is the same for werewolf feed and increase your perks.(PS after feed you can go into town but the sun your giveaway) Night travel is better

All this person did was ask if it can be cured...It's a yes or no answer.

The answer is yes, it can be cured. In fact you can get and cure vampirism over and over.

It's better to just be a vampire. Grab the Necromage perk from Restoration and being a vampire is awesome with negligible downsides. Necromage vampires get +25% magnitude and +50% duration to Blessings, Stones, Potions, spells where you are the target(wards, flesh spells, etc), and enchantments on your armor(possibly weapons?). As long as you feed once every 72 in-game hours the benefits greatly outweigh the cost. If you use Illusion, the most useful magick skill in the game regardless of your difficulty setting, you don't even need to worry about people attacking you if you don't bother to feed. Just forcibly calm them down or turn invisible.

If you get the Better Vampires mod that was mentioned earlier in the thread it incentivizes frequent feedings with minor boosts to strength, speed, attack speed, and jump height if you accumulate enough feedings.
