Joining The Stormcloaks
If you join the Stormcloaks and take Whiterun do you lose being a Thane and even more do you lose Lydia. I am afraid to go down that path because I don't want to lose Lydia as a follower.

I have made her immortal and she is by far the most protective follower I have found.

No, you don't lose anything. She and your baby will both stay safely inside your house until the fight is over and the town is cleaned/repaired.

Good I would hate to lose her now I can continue my Stormcloak quest line. I always have hated the Imperials and Thalmor guess I never got over they wanted to chop my head off in the start of the game. I always go with Ralof so I can kill that Imperial Captain.

Thanks Uncle Cookie

I will even pay a fine to kill a few. I added the more imperials mod and went into Solitude in tgm mode and slaughterd them left and right. Of course I have started a new game since then but it was fun to play for a night.

That is not relevant to this topic.

Acutally, Imperials are not really pure breed Nazies. True, they do try and chop your head off, at the beginning of the game, but the Imperials seem a bit lbieral to me. And I'm sure there was a huge misunstanding, when they treid to chop your head off. Maybe the Playable Characther was in the wrong place, at the wrong time?

Neither side is good. They both manipulate for their own purpose, but I've found the Stormcloaks to be the least objectionable side. No matter which side you pick, you will lose some friends.

Very true but you will gain some others. One of the funniest lines is when you talk to Ralof in the crown quest. He will say how did you get so Darn ugly. I used darn instead of the word he uses.

Is it hard to tell I am a big lydia fan. I usually marry Aela who is in my opinion the second best to adventure with if you want to hack and slash or use Magic while she stays back and pelts your opponets with arrows. Both are my favorite followers.

why not join both?

You can't. Once you join one the option to join the other is gone.

oh they patched it, lol i did that back when the game first came out.

After you get the crown I was told in the Official Guide that if you return the crown to Rikka you can follow the imperial questline and vice versa after that you are locked in.
