Can a HP 2000 2D26TU Pc notebook run skyrim
The specs seem to exceed skyrim's minimum requiremnts and yet people have told me that the game won't run. Help Please.

It might work but don't expect very good FPS or stunning visuals. I've ran Oblivion on a i5 notebook (Intel HD3000 GPU). It ran but did not look like anything I wanted to spend anytime playing. Google is your friend - there's got to be a site somewhere with a chart showing a similar CPU/GPU running Skyrim can do.

That's a really low-end notebook, with really sucky graphics.

According to benchmarks, you can expect 14fps with settings on low.

Would skyrim be okay on 14 fps?

No, 14 fps would be very choppy and would drop even lower if getting in a fight or entering a town.

It depends obviously on your processor and videocard. I have an 8-month-old HP dv6-7200 [AMD A10-4600M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz; AMD Radeon HD 7660G + 7670M Dual Graphics; 16GB RAM; 1TB HD] and I've been able to play Skyrim without many problems. Mine was not intially customised to be a gaming computer, and it occasionally has flickering problems in the ice caves of Solstheim but decent graphics otherwise on ‘High’ quality.

If you are getting only 14 FPS on ‘low’ quality though, it's really going to be difficult for you to enjoy the game. If you are shopping for computers to play Skyrim and are only considering that one, keep looking. If that is the one you have, try playing Skyrim on it and see how it works for you. (HP is not known for extremely high performance gaming computers, but I prefer HP because they are extremely stable and reliable.)

Few if any laptops will compete with an overclocked, 8-core high-quality, water-cooled, multiple-videocard desktop. Don't expect yours to.

Skyrim does not support touchpads, a problem I encountered early on. I suggest you get the Razer DeathAdder 2013 USB gaming mouse, the Razer Vespula mouse-pad (it's heavy-gauge aluminium and works well when you are actually sitting in a comfortable chair using the mouse and mousepad on the chair arm), and because of most laptops’ suboptimal speakers, the Steelseries 3H gaming headset. (These were all recommended by PC GAMER magazine.) I found the best prices and availability at Newegg, but that was a few months ago. Also, if you are going to literally be laptop gaming, at least invest in an inexpensive but large grocery store rigid plastic cutting board to set your computer on. Airflow is important.

Make extensive use of the ‘HP Support Assistant’ to keep it and your computer updated. (To update HP Support Assistant, launch it, then click on ‘About’ in the upper right corner of the frame.) If you need to download or reinstall drivers, see the page for HP 2000-2d26TU Notebook PC support[h10025.www1.hp.com].

Note that there seem to have been some significant problems with Win 8.1, so check with the HP site to be sure all Win 8.1 compatible drivers are available before upgrading to it. I'm not going to upgrade until the myriad bugs are worked out for 8.1.

And if you occasinally see your battery icon discharging while the computer is plugged in, and when you mouse over it the message says ‘Plugged in. Not charging.’ don't panic! Unplug your computer until the battery is < 90 per cent charged, then plug it in again. It should then say ‘Plugged in. Charging’. This simply means that the HP Smart Battery system needs to be recalibrated, which it does automatically when you do that. Don't play the game with the computer on battery power, either. HP computers go into energy conservation mode and the game slows down considerably.

This is a bit more encyclopaedic than I originally intended it, but I decided to put everything down in one post for others to find in their searches for HP laptops and Skyrim.

I wouldn't bother trying to play it.

Thanks for the info
If it matters the processor is an Intel Pentium B960 ( 2.2 GHz, 2 MB L3 Cache) and the graphics is an Intel UMA Shared Graphics
I also heard of some mods and files that can increase fps and graphics. Would this be a viable option? I really want to play skyrim and any answers will be greatly appreciated.

I would not bet on that.
