Why kill Miraak?
Its one thing I dont get. Why is Miraak the main villian? he is the dragonborn that tried to defy the dragons, but was defeated, so why is he now the bad guy?

"Hermaeus Mora is laughing at us, you know"- Miraak
It all seems to be just Hermaeus Mora that is playing games, Miraak is trying to kill The Dragonborn to be free of fate, but in the end he loses that and have no longer the freedom of Hermaeus Mora.
Why cant the Dragonborn just offer assistance to defy Hermaeus Mora and make Miraak free? Miraak is arogant as hell, but after a good beating I am sure he will know hos the boss.

In the storyline I havent come upone anny indication that he is that bad, no destroy Nirn like Alduin.
He did send some cultist to kill you, but thats not that horrible of a deed, and no actual prof that it was him, it might be Hermaeus Mora that wanted to get the dragonborn to come to the island.

He do enslave people, but thats not really hurting them, they just gets a bit exhausted and so, I can think of allot worse enslavment that other human/elves do to eatch other.

Absolute power does not equal absolute evil

True it means absolute corruption, which in turn mostly leads to absolute evil.

Not really, the way to get power might corrupt, that you try to suck upto a superior or that you are unsatisfyed by your place might make you do bad stuff to get that power,
Or being afraid of losing your power, but if its in danger of being lost its hardly absolute power.

If a leader is afraid of losing power, they might do terror and killing people to keep them at bay, but then that means that your power isnt absolute. If you had nothing to fear then there is no reason to do things like that.

Absolute power isnt absolute corruption, but the way to it might lead to it.

There can be only one, dragonborn that is. Also he's pretty much insane after all this time.

Look at Miraak. Then look at your Dragonborn. Then look at Miraak again. This can be your Dragonborn some time later. The future is bright. All that times I was complaining about “mysterious disappearance” of protagonist? Be careful what you wish for, InsertNameHere -_-

"May he/she be rewarded for his/her service, as I am." (Final words)- Miraak.

I see it's an old post but to my understanding Miraak could be compared to a peacok showing off it's colours. Narcistic and proud he is. He's so puffed up that he start to amuse you at some point and piss off the other time. Personally I thiink he has some charisma as from what I know most players would wish to side with him, to help him.( including me) God bless Miraak follower mod as it adds alternate ending as well. Some would say he was eveil because he enslaved people. I think he just grew desperate after millenias of imprisoment in Apocrypha. And desperation make people do questionable and disgusting things. I bet if threre'd be another possible escape route Miraak would probably take it. And I smell Haemerus doing. Miraak had his library to his disposition and I bet he looked for a way out in this knowledge. Mora could easly manipulate the content. Besides something's really fishy here. Yes, Mora states he's slowly loosing his influence over him but that means he still has SOME of it. I think Mora didn't like the idea of loosing his puppet/pet ( whatever you wish to call it) so he arranged everything as he knew Miraak would be free again. Disturbing is also the fact that 3 out of 4 tombs on the island contained Mora's books. Guess those three priests got corrupted by mora. And I find astonishing how Miraak kept his sanity in apocrypha while others lost their senses. Perhaps that's the reason for his desire to escape: Either he knew he would go mad if he's stay any longer or he felt Mora loosing his grip on him.

I'm fairly sure he's the bad guy because he's trying to enslave the entire island of Solstheim.

Why kill Miraak?

How else are you going to get his sick robes and tentacle sword?
