Why kill Miraak?
Its one thing I dont get. Why is Miraak the main villian? he is the dragonborn that tried to defy the dragons, but was defeated, so why is he now the bad guy?

"Hermaeus Mora is laughing at us, you know"- Miraak
It all seems to be just Hermaeus Mora that is playing games, Miraak is trying to kill The Dragonborn to be free of fate, but in the end he loses that and have no longer the freedom of Hermaeus Mora.
Why cant the Dragonborn just offer assistance to defy Hermaeus Mora and make Miraak free? Miraak is arogant as hell, but after a good beating I am sure he will know hos the boss.

In the storyline I havent come upone anny indication that he is that bad, no destroy Nirn like Alduin.
He did send some cultist to kill you, but thats not that horrible of a deed, and no actual prof that it was him, it might be Hermaeus Mora that wanted to get the dragonborn to come to the island.

He do enslave people, but thats not really hurting them, they just gets a bit exhausted and so, I can think of allot worse enslavment that other human/elves do to eatch other.

Very good point, but sometimes the game writers don't make it clear as to their reasoning why they create such delima.

You mean aside from that's what you're supposed to do? I think Miraak was planning on becoming powerful enough to become god-like and rule the world. Funny, cus I don't remember the story line.

well, ruling the world might be a threat to some kings and so, Tiber Septim become a god, you are not evil because of ambition alone.

At first when you meet, he just dismisses you and send you back, last time its you that encounter him, having traveled to apocrypta to battle him. you are the servant of Hermeaus Mora, Why would he not kill you?

Dragonborn kills travellers just for walking on the same road as him and Miraak dared to diss (miss) him, (lots of liberties here lol).
But his cultists did try to kill the Dragonborn and everyone assumes you not of who you are but who follows you :P

Two of the most powerfull dragonborn ever. and Hermaeus Mora isnt the Deadric prince of destruction or dominans, he is of fate, knowledge and memory. thats not really a fighter style.
All he has trown at the dragonborn so far hasnt been that dangerus.

And they had the robes, and a note, how do you know they really were under his command?

I prefer the term "Ruthless" myself :P

Edit: Actually other than railroading you into killing Miraak, there is no reason to kill him (unless you want to play the DLC for all it's worth).

Interesting question. I did not played the DLC yet, so can not judge the Miraak, but here is some speculation. Dragons have a blue and orange morality. They are all about be on top, submit to the stronger or die fighting. And you and Miraak have dragon souls. It is up to you how many dragon instincts your Dragonborn have, but considering that you end on the top of the food chain in many cases (sometimes literally) and end up getting a lot of power, you do have some of them. And Miraac, he want to rule the world? So, we basically have the same old – submit or die. Add to it human part of both Dragonborns – it looks like Miraak have no dragon's “your are stronger, so my loyalty is yours” mentality (Mora is stronger), so knowing this, “submit” is out of question. Errr... Hope it makes some sence. The mix of dragon and human mentality.

Meaby, but he seems to be more into fate and stuff like that.
"Fate decreed that you had to die so that I could win my freedom."

He do however claim to be the strongest.

one line that was removed from the script was
"I grieve that you must meet your end this way but necessity demands it"

Wait a sec... Mora is the prince of fate among other things? And he is Miraak current master?
