Nexus has been free and always will be.

i try to download and it ask me to log in.so when i sign up they ask me to pay a premium to get my account.

Some poeple make the mistake of not reading the text at the top when you register: You do not have to select any of the premium options to register. Just continue the registration without selecting any the premium options.

Sorry, but nexus IS free, if you take the time to read.

It is free, you click continue at the bottom. You don't need to select one of the options

i will try it again but i did that and it still brought me back to the premium page and ask me to choose one

It'll usually take awhile, just be patient

I quote, from the registration page:
"Select any packages you would like to purchase. You will be directed to the payment screen once your account has been created and you have logged in.

You do not have to purchase a package to complete registration."

Note the last line.
Just press the button "create account" at the bottom to continue registration, without choosing any of the premium options. Congratulations, you now have a free account.

Sometimes the confirmation mail can take some time. Wait a bit, and make sure to check your spam folder.

If you are completley new to modding, and feel lost about something, I suggest wathing gophers tutorials:

As for recommended mods, the whole point of mods is customizing the game to suit YOU. With that said, it is always a good idea to see what the whole community as a whole seem to prefer: And nexus has an excellent top 100 list in all cetegories for this:
