Marry a mod character?
If I marry a character from a mod, then I remove the mod, will it count as her never existing, thus allowing me to marry a new character?

I suspect it might crash your game, it depends on whether the asset reference is recorded in any of your saved game files and linked to your character. But I'm not sure of the mechanic's so you really need a modder to clarify.

Can you be more specifric about the mods and characters involved?

I installed a mod, that added a marrigeable Khajiit character. I found out this character wasn't this good, and was kinda glitched. I simple un-checked the box, my game has opened up fine, and is running, I am going to find a new character I installed and see if it works.

It appears to be that it doesn't remove them as a married character, so if you dont like the one you are currently married too, youre gonna have to start a new game ): I hate starting over...

no you dont need to start a new game. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Marriage

go to the very bottom where is says divorce. you will need to re-install the mod you removed for this to work. its a long process and you MUST use the console command but it works.

Thanks for the help. Will try.

So basically it removed the character from the game, but remembered you were married. Which sort of makes sense.

Just out of interest, what happens in Skyrim if your spouse dies, can you marry again?

no didz you cant. you have to know the married npc's code and do a console command that makes then targeted like you clicked on them, dont know it, then do the divorce procedure. there should be steps on the wiki page that has you kill them.

I dont know, this charact is apparently invincible so I might try it later.

ahh no i was wrong didz you have to still have the body of your spouse i think. you have to resurrect them, even doing option 2 from the wiki
Krusty Dec 10, 2013 @ 4:16am
authentic you can do option 3 so long as the spouse is alive.

Option three
The Amulet of Mara necklace must be retained, or another one must be found.
Any wanted items should be taken from the current spouse before starting this process.
The following commands must be used, after targeting the spouse:
removefac 51596
player.removefac C6472
resetquest 74793
resetquest 21382
setstage 74793 10
The old spouse will immediately exit the house and return to their regular location.
24 hours must be waited.

Thanks for the clarification Kagnesti, my character isn't married yet, i was just wondering about the game mechanic's for handling the death of a spouse, as it seemed like a probable event in the game with all these dragons, vampires and werewolves about.

It also seemed like a possible quick solution to getting rid of one. Not that I'd even consider that as an option of course.

Didz if you use mods i can recommend 2-3 mods for you to use. 2 of them make NPC's run inside houses, taverns and overides there scripts till the threat is dealt with, 1 for dragons and 1 for vampires. and the other allowes you to change the way followers are without having to use console. make them essential and making them not care if you hurt them to much and the like.

@Kagnesti: So, far I've installed just over 60 mods, although I'm being quite careful in my selections and I try and test each one in play before loading another just in case it does something weird. I have actually rejected some because they didn't work the way I'd hoped.

I have 'Run for your lives' installed already, which I think is one of the two you are referring to. I haven't seen it work yet, as it's too early in my game for it to be relevant.

I've seen the mods that make followers and the like essential, but so far I haven't opted for them. Mainly because I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to roleplay, and whilst I recognised that accidently killing Lydia in a fight might be very annoying and awkward, making her invulnerable rather than learning not to swing my hammer around like an idiot in a fight would be a little too easy.

The lastest mod's I've installed were to make the world behave more sensibly in rain and cold weather. 'Wet and Cold' and 'Real Shelter'. I haven't tested them yet, but hopefully it should mean that NPC's don't carry on wandering around in thunderstorms, and my character should be able to take shelter from the rain.

Do you think Frodnar's weird behaviour may be the consequence of one of these mods?
