Didn't take part in Stormcloak battle for Whiterun, now there's 2 Jarls.

I didn't join the Stormcloak assault on Whiterun like I was supposed to on Pelagia's farm, and instead tried to scale the mountain on the Dragonsreach side to enter the city that way. After a while, just as I made it to the wall, I got the message that the quest "Battle for Whiterun" jad been completed, and that "Liberation of Skyrim" had begun. So, ok, I figured the battle might complete itself without me, but when I got into Whiterun scaling the wall, what I found inside was the city with very little ruins, (Heimskr's house had debris on the door, the tree square was a bit destroyed, but there were no barricades that I could see and all the gurads still wore the yellow Whiterun guard uniforms. However, people like Olfrid Battle-Born complained to me about how roughly the Stormcloaks treated them, Idolaf Battle-Born told me he should smash my face in after "what I'd done" on the steps of Dragonsreach, and Vignar Grey-Mane in front of the Gildergreen tree told me that "Whiterun once again belongs to its rightful heirs". And other NPCs told me he was the Jarl now. I went into Whiterun and Balgruuf's Steward was still in the hall, and going up the stairs, to the Jarl's quarters, I found Balgruuf sleeping and he spoke like he was still the Jarl. Did I break the game? Here's some screenshots. I'm not using any mods that might affect the civil war in the vanilla game, just normal SjyUI, Pure Waters, etc. (immersion/texture stuff).

PS: I didn't include Balgruuf's screenshots because I was too surprised to press F12. Am I screwed or can I continue this game?

This certainly is a bit strange.... have you tried fast travelling across the land/waiting/sleeping/what you prefer, make 1-30 in-game days pass and come back?

I can certainly do that. But I just wandered around for a bit and came back, and Whiterun was still looking the same. Irileth, Proventus Avenicci and Balgruuf inside Dragonsreach, and yellow Whiterun guards everywhere. Gildergreen's square broken, Heimskr's house still blocked with debris. I reverted to another save, before I gave the Jagged Crown to Ulfric and gave it to General Tullius in Solitude instead. I really didn't realize that my Stormcloak oath would bind me to attack Balgruuf, who I had absolutely no beef with. he was in fact my favorite Jarl inthe game. I still have this save if anyone wants to check it out. I don't think I'll spend any more time on the glitched save.
