Attack button doesn't work.

I just got the game for the first time thanks to the Fall sale. Regular version, no DLC or legendary stuff. But from the moment I got a weapon the right mouse button didn't work. I can only use heavy attacks while nothing happens with normal attacks. Remapping the attack button to the keyboard had the same problem. I tried doing some research and found that this is common for people who have Dawnguard, but I don't have Dawnguard and I just downloaded the game from Steam yesterday?

Is there anything I can do to make the attack button work?

Does this occur after closing the game and reopening? You may need to reinstall, or try verifying the integrity of the game cache in steam.

Yeah. I restarted the game 3 times and it had the same problem. I just verified the integrity of the cache and it is redownloading almost 4 gigs of files after that. Why a 6 gig download would have that much in the way of bad files is beyond me. I knew Bethesda had a bad reputation for glitches, but this is ridiculous.

Very strange, and I'm sorry to hear. I do wonder how 4Gb of files means you can't attack, but ah well. I imagine something must've been having a tantrum between your computer and the steam servers. lol

Thanks. Bc of the increased traffic during the sale it took 8 hours to download the 4 gig. Tried it out, and the fix in the video. Neither worked. I might just have to play with only heavy attacks.

Weird, because I can't seem to drop my items, and I think my water vision is broken... I'm using a Wood elf. is that supposed to happen?

Try loading a previous save, one where you could attack, worked for me.

For me it has something to do with Dawnguard. I disabled every mod and clicking worked once I disabled Dawnguard. I have cleaned it with tes5edit, so maybe it was that? I will try the non-cleaned version and report back.

if loading a previous save does not work as i came across this, reload the game, can try menu and back in but i did desktop and back in and fixed it
