So I'm in the Radiant Raiment just now and Endarie greets me with warmth and friendship. I then conclude our business and turn to leave when she makes a snide comment towards me. That's fine, I've been playing for almost 800 hrs, I'm used to her attitude and how quickly she forgets the services I've done her, so it's fine. Our business wasn't actually done though so I walk back to Endarie to be, once again, greeted with warmth and friendship. This time we truly conclude our business and as I turn to leave she delivers her customary cutting remark.

Something snapped inside me. I leapt over the counter and removed her head from her body with my blade. Erikur's sister, Gisli tried to rise from the nearby bench but my back swing sent her to Oblivion as well. A cry from the side room drew me and there I met Irnskar Ironhand with bared steel. As I kicked his body from my blade, two guards rushed into the room, shouting as they came. I smashed their faces with my shield and then slew them as well. As I surveyed the blood splashed room suddenly my eyes bulged. Gisli had risen to face me once more.

Now I ask, in the name of all that is sacred, why is this woman essential? I checked the wiki and uesp and this character has not a single quest associated with her beyond being a target for some radiant quests. All she has going for her is that she's Erikur's sister. I understand Baalgruf and Elisif being essential but not this gal.

I don't really care and yes, I know mods exist to change this or I could just change it myself. It just really struck me that this completely random, zero-impact NPC was set to essential and I wanted to vent a bit.

Anyway, moving on. Good day :)

Get the Mod on Nexus, it's called Essential to Protected. It makes everyone killable, and when they are near death and do their "Yield" on the ground, other npcs stop attacking. Be careful though, they can still die then you have to restart your game.

As in the fight with Ancano, Tolfdir can die, and the quest is bugged and you have to reload.

Can't say i haven't wanted to do (done :p Lol ) that very thing in my game but i read some were, mabee in a post, that she had a main part in the original desine of the game to take over for Erikur after the Thalmore incedent if you used him for the destraction he would end up in the Thalmore prison and she would take over his spot in the Blue Palace. But not sure were i read that so might not help you
