Steam Glitch or Skyrim Glitch? Wolfskull Cave and Fellglow Keep

When playing the xbox I had many glitches but none like this. Fellglow Keep "Hitting the Books" the way into "The Caller" is blocked by boulders ... Wolfskull Cave, where you jump down into the cave is blocked over by frozen ice. I need to finish these quests as they both lead to items I am trying to achieve. My first run through gave me no problems .. started a new character and now have problems .. I have reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled again and again. removed my very few mods which are all 4-5 star rated, I am particular about the modders and their work. How do I get by this? I do not know how to type in console commands ... can someone help? I should not have to do this.... and I cannot seem to play from my Skyrim Legends disk without it linking to Steam... Where to start to fix this? Please Help.

Have you made sure to triiger the quests properly? It sounds like the quests are not active fore you yet so the barriers that prevent you from strayign into them are still up.

If that isn't the case then use the console to advance the quest to remove the obsructions.

Both quests have showed up in my questlines ... I went to Urag to get the "Hitting the Books" and listened to Varnius to get "Clear Out Wolf Skull Cave" ... I have done these quests before on xbox and on my gaming computer but I started a new character on the PC and even though I deleted all past saves and restarted these quests are blocked. Is there instructions on how to get to the console command prompt and how to reset these quests somewhere? I am new to PC gaming .. always used the xbox prior .. but I love my new cyberpower pc .. its graphics, speed and liquid cooling system are awesome and want to continue gaming with it.

To use the console hit the "~" key asnd enter the following exactly



setstage MS06Start 15

For hitting the books its a bit more complaicated.

Read though this to see what stagew you are up to, you should have there entries in your quest journal http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Hitting_the_Books

To trigger the next stage you will need to enter the code

setstage MG03 (and here the code for the stage you need to activate from the list above)

Rabidnid .. thank you so much .. I decided to try instruction to Wolfskull first .. seemed the easier one .. I put in the command at the cave and away from the cave trying both after doing a save point ... I got back the following msg.

Not found for parameter quest
Compliled script not saved

I do not understand .. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled before restarting yet another character ... which I am now trying to fix. I did write at the Bethesda forums but no live answer yet .. except someone asking if I tried a console command TCL ... hmm

I have also written steam and bethesda ... maybe I will get help ..... I really dont understand ... is there a way to do a clean uninstall that I am unaware of? I really think it is a steam issue .. this week was the first time I tried to new character via my computer and steam ... and I do believe it is holding onto old character info.

Hummm...

When you unistalled did you delete the skyrim file in steam? That is probably where the issue is. Also check if there is a level where you can comence the quest.

Rabidnid you are so kind to help ... I uninstalled and deleted everything under steam and uninstalled skyrim .. it is updating the reload now ... I am sure I am going to have to start from the beginning again .. but will go to Solitude first and see if I can get the wolfskull cave quest opened and check it out .... at an early level I will probably get the daylight blown out of me but it should be fun... we will see if this works this time.

Yep, just went to solitude and trifggered the quest, and made it into the cave normally. Noting odd for me. Now i really have to go to work :) i will check in later.

Um. It is 2018 and this glitch is still happening. I have no other quests and the marker is telling me to go through the ice blocking the way down into the tunnel. Even Clairvoyance is telling me to go through the ice. And, don't try spouting off console commands at me, I am ON A CONSOLE. Console commands are not usable on PS4.

I am trying to get ownership of Proudspire manor so I can get the Stone of Barenziah that is inside behind the unpickable keyed lock. Any suggestions on how to fix this. I have already put over 250 hours into this toon by now and am not going to scrap it.

I solved my issue by getting a MOD(ugh) that gives you 5X jump height. This allowed me to go in the backway after watching a walkthrough video ending to see where the exit is at.(ironically, I walked under it at the front of the cave)

last time bethesda made a patch for skyrim legacy was 2013.. so if you don't use mods like the unofficial patch, you will still encounter it
