Problems with SKSE

Okay, I'm not too sure if this is the right place to post this, but I really don't know where else to go. I've tried installing SKSE 5 times, using 5 different methods, multiple times for each method and only 1 of them was noticeably different from the other 4. I can still launch Skyrim from Steam, but when I try to run SKSE itself, it tells me "Couldn't find TES_.exe You have customized the runtime name via SKSE's.ini file, and that file does not exist. This can usually be fixed by removing the RuntimeName line from the .ini file.)" I'm not very good at modding, and I've relied on the NNM for all of them except this one. So please, if anyone can tell me how to fix the thing, I've very much appreciate it.

better to rely on nexus mod manager to load the data that's in skse after you have downloaded it and opened it in a folder. select the "data" portion only of skse and add it to archive. this if you have previously downloaded "WINRAR" the handiest file archiver there is...

then after the data is archived and saved to your desktop you can open NMM click the blue icon at the top of the mod half and navigate to data1 or whatever you named that particular archive and load it up. then all thats left is to copy/paste the loader files to your skyrim folder where tesv.exe lives and your all set... you can make a shortcut to skse_loader.exe to desktop

Don't download Winrar, it's ad-ware. I would recommend to install 7zip instead.

7zip is what I have. Idk how to get it to do what they said winrar could do.

When you open 7zip you need to navigate to the folder where you downloaded the zip or RAR file (usually your Downloads folder), then click on it and Extract.

Then you can switch to Windows Explorer, go to your Downloads folder and then copy or cut/paste the extracted files (or folder where they are contained) into whichever folder you want to put it in.

Skse has an installer now, maybe give that a go?

That's what I've been doing, and this is the problem I've been recieving from it.

I used the SKSE installer, it doesn't install into your game, unless they updated it since the 13th.

Extract the files either with winzip or RAR itself, place them in Skyrim folder (steam, steamapps, common, skyrim.) If it is not finding TESV copy SKSE.exe, look down list until you find TESV or TESV.exe(or applictation) in paste in there. (Silverlock files may need placing in data and papyrus folders refer to their directions in web page). The latest should automatically load in these. As you are doing this for the first time you may have to do this manually basically just follow their directions.

I have followed the directions that the site provides, it's just the program in't finding TESV, it's looking for TES_. I'm mostly wondering if I have to change my TESV to TES_, or change it in the .ini file for SKSE.

Go to C: drive > STEAM > STEAMAPPS > COMMON > SKYRIM > TESV you will find it there (just look down page) It is an 'application' file (not there! you can't play the game)

have a look in ...\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim folder, there will be a file called TESV.exe, there should also be another file called skse_loader.exe, if you used the installler version it should have installed itself there. Thats the file you need to run, if you used the installer version it will place a shortcut on your desktop

Okay, I've installed hte latest version, I've followed directions to the T. The launcher says my TESV.exe needs to be TES_.exe. I'm asking if I have to change the SKSE .ini file, or if I need to change the name of TESV.exe to TES_.exe

Place it in TESV that how it is in the old version, new version updates it skse_steam_loader is the document which you see in skyrim folder. If it doesn't do it when unzipped just place SKSE.exe in TESV.

"go into the data folder then skse folder you will see the skse.ini file just open it with notepad change the TES_.exe to TESV.exe removing the underscore and save the file voila! loader works.
My path to the ini looks like this just for a point of reference, it will look different if you are using the steam version of the game >>>> C:\Program Files (x86)\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Data\SKSE and remember the ini file has a little cog wheel on it. "

No matter which method I have used to load Skyrim it will not work. Not through Steam, Nexus Mod Manager, SKSE, or Skyrim Mod Organizer. It always says it can't find the EXE. I have been on many websites, read many forum posts, & consulted YouTube videos. Not one single suggested fix has done anything at all. I desperately need help with this :(
