What's the point of fear spells?
These seem more annoying that you have to chase your enemies down. And if there's a lot of enemies why not just cast frenzy?

Every cast frenzy in the middle of a bounch of farm animals? Nothing quite like watching a groujp of chickens violently attacking everything in sight.

The spells are there for people that want to use them, that is all.

You could just pick a sword and kill everybody also, i have not used most spells in this game , including frenzy.

Just inv and backstab everyone in the room.

You can use fear to have mob run then he will come back with his pals seting off traps and etc and then you can use frenzy to have them kill each other.

Illusion Magic is very fun. As everyone has said Fear is a handy tool when you are a Mage but for Me Frenzy is brilliant when used in Towns.

If there is some civilians in the area you dont want to make them frenzy. Making them flee is a bether option.
Its all dependent on the situation.
but I would say fremzy is bether most of the time. still good to have the option.

Guys...

  1. Look for the toughest guy in the mob
  2. Cast a Fury Type spell at him
  3. Cast a Fear type spell at him

And now watch as the tough guy runs away in fear, being beaten down by all his former buddies, attracting more and more enemies on his way. This is especially effective in dungeons. In open places, a single Fury type spell is generally enough.

If you are feeling funny, you can also sneak up to the corpse of the tough guy and resurrect him as your minion for a few seconds.
