Try disabling one mod at a time while checking if whatever the problem is, still occurs

This is pretty much it. If you have a lot of mods, try disabling a few at a time, checking the game after each group. When the game works, add mods in the last group in one at a time until you find the one that breaks the game.

When doing this, make note that not all mods can just be disabled. Any mod like this will have special instructions for creating a save file that can be loaded without the mod running. For example, you can't load a game that was using the textures from the Enhanced Blood Textures Mod when you saved unless you have that mod running. The mod has instructions for ensuring that none of the textures are in use when you save, so that the mod can be safely disabled or updated.

Would also recommend the BOSS program which will modify the order mods are loaded in to help prevent issues (load order is VERY important with a lot of mods, and getting this wrong will break your game as surely as incompatible and broken mods).

mods from the work shop are only listed as plugins
so there for deactivating all plugins
in nmm tells you if its a plugin that's causing your problem
rather than a mod downloaded off the nexus
then you can proceed accordingly
this is what i do if the error doesn't surface in tess edit
