You get to summon him three times (total) while outdoors.
Kind of a weak reward for the difficulty of the event imo.
He's the toughest fight in the entire game.
But, I didn't bother with that (why would you? Not much enjoyment in beating it that way). I stayed on ground level keeping my distance.
As far as the toughest fight... I'm not sure. Yes, if you try to melee, it can be stupidly tough, because of his local frost AOE, but as long as you adjust your tactics to the situation, it's not that bad. ... The final event with Miraak can be stupidly tough too. But, if you know what you're doing and are properly prepared for it, no problem.
This was the only way I could defeat this bastard without using tgm.
First I start off with an invisible 30x backstab, then I switched swords for shield bash->stagger->hit, repeat and lots of stamina potions to keep the the staggers coming. (similar to how I handle dragons minus the backstab)
He only managed to spawn those annoying ice wraiths.
On one of my attempts, he managed to ragdoll me right out of the courtyard and into the water on the north side, and yet I somehow survived. I was surprised the courtyard wasn't considered an interior area.
100 in 2 handed and 100 in enchanting worked. Doing around 200 damage a hit and with 650 armour I beat the thing without cheating on normal.
