Too many brains would explode. Simpler if everyone wears onesies
While the game engines are getting better, its seems with every new elder scrolls game, the character customisation is getting simpler and simpler. (I wish I had my character from morrowind. In those says you could fly like superman(levitate), leap like the hulk (acrobatics could be leveled insanely) and run like the flash (boots of blinding speed),
The same thing happened with clothing and armour, much less choices, also far less unique items, this was the fun thing about some of the dungeons in morrowind, and occassionally why I would do some dungeons in oblivion. (Chrysamere is just one example).
One solution other games have made, is to simply hide the greaves (or even boots and gauntlets) when wearing a non-matching cuirass. Without "vanity" or "cosmetic" armor, that's going to cause just as much angst as the lack of greaves.
I rest my case
can't have any of that.
So if the clipping issue is already in the game, what difference will it make to those who want to have seperate items on different parts of the body. As you point out they already allow you to change your cuirass/head gear/hands/boots, we are just saying it would have been nice to increase the options a little, and not all combinations cause clipping but yes some do, but so what? I play in first person mode, so the clipping issues really do not affect me or others who play in first person. Also even little things like wearing more than one ring etc.
Its not a techincal issue at all. Its just the direction they chose to take the game, mods prove this as most of the issues can be solved by installing one.
On a side note I am sure the op does not hate skyrim and I certainly do not (have over 800 hours in it) We are just discussing that it would have been nice if the orignal game did a little more without needing mods.
Certainly from my point of view I feel that with each new release, they simplify the game slightly. Its not just armour, its all sorts of things like stats, magic etc,
